Talking TWM Project - NEW PICTURES

Hi guys,

I had started a thread about my TWM project but it was erased as TWM was not a partner of the forum. Now that they are official partners, I do this thread again so you guys can follow-up the developements of the projet.

As stated before, I was lucky to be approached by TWM to develop a short shifter for FR-S/BRZ.

TWM is a small Canadian/Quebecer company specialized in short shifters, shift knobs and other engeneered products.

Here is the link to their WebSite. They offer a variety of beautiful and good products.

http://www.twmperformance.com/

Presently, my car is in their hands. They are officially putting the short shifter prototype and a few other goodies. I will get the car back on Wednesday and will post photos of all they have done on the car.

As of today's date, they already gave me the Phantom Shoft Know (in black) (http://www.twmshiftknobs.com/shiftkn...d-phantom.html), which I REALLY like. It feels real good in hand and doesn't become too cold in winter lol.

They also installed a Pedal Box (http://www.pedalboxusa.com/).

I like it. The feeling of the Pedal Box is really interesting!!!

I can't wait to give you other reviews!!!

Finaly:

It is all PROTOTYPE.

The booth will be adjusted a bit and will get red color instead of blue.

The towhook will be powdercoated too.

The feeling of the short shifter is amazing! It's like the gears are more easy to pass, especially when downshifting. Everything is more thight! Simply feels amazing!

Hi Trish! I had no idea TWM was Canadian. That's great. I would like to get a short shifter. I've been looking at a few. I'll be awaiting your review. How about some video too?

Oh, I forgot!!!

Rear Stay Bushings:

This Bushing connects the Shifter Body to Your Cars Frame. The OEM bushings allow for Excessive Play, so TWM Performance Bushings were designed to Eliminate this slack and Re-invent the shifting in Your Scion FR-S

The feeling is amazing! I like it! The FR-S already has pretty short gears, but the short shifter makes the gears more "easy to pass", more precise, especially when downshifting. I really like it. The velvet booth is sick! With the velvet seats, it is perfect!!! The Phantom shift knob, I just like it. It feels perfect in hand!

What kind of video do you want me to take?

I have their shifter and knob in my Sti and knob only in my rs4. Their short shifter is really good. With two knobs on hand and only one short shifter to compare, I think the "easier to pass feel is more due to the knob weight than the short shifter.

The thing is, the Phantom Shift Knob doesn't wieght a lot! It's not like their other shift know (ex. Desert Eagle). I think it doesn't weight a lot more than the original one lol.

While you are correct about this, our FR-S short shifter is particularly smooth due to the fact that we used a very high quality low friction spherical bearing as the pivot point. This eliminates any friction that the shifter would have inside a typical shifter cup (like the stock shifter). This is one of the smoothest shifters we make!

Couple of questions...

Group buy or any specials for the short shifter and/or bushings?

Are the shifts "buttery smooth" like a Honda?

And would you be able to make the reverse portion of the shifter black?

Oh and had your short shifter and bushings on my 07 Si and they were great

Hey Trish,

Thanks for the review, as for video... I'm curious as to how much shorter the shift is. Video from the side, as you row through the gears, would be nice. Or, perhaps @TWMPerformance has (or can make) a "before and after" video.

Thanks
