Besides although $50K may seem like a good budget for that much you could just be buying somebody disaster car. Really good deals are usually really good for a reason when it comes to performance cars.
Buying a C7 or C6 from an old guy that's kept it as a garage queen is normally a safe deal. I've done a couple that way. Buying from a younger guy is the big risk IMO.

Oh I meant more if something is a really good "deal". If you are getting what is normally an $80K car for $60K there is probably a reason for it.

A garage queen can be a good buy as long as it was at least driven once in a while. Ones that just sits there and never ever sees the road other than very short spurts can be troublesome no matter what the age of the owner. It is finding that perfect middle point really.

Ok, minor thread jacking, looking at this the other way around. Every time I mention to my friends that I'm thinking of doing some sort of modification to my FRS, they tell me to sell it and buy a faster car such as a Corvette or Cayman.

It's hard to find a car to test drive nowadays, and then I'd have to convince someone to let me drive it out of curiosity, then it's kind of hard to get a good feel for a car like that on a test drive. So, are my friends right? Are "fast" cars really any more fun, or are they just status symbols?

Faster doesn't at all have to mean more fun. All people are different though, some like having lots of power that they never use, others like me thinks cars like that are pretty pointless and frustrating. Some people dont care if the cars feel completely dead to drive, as long as it looks cool and have Internet cred etc etc. Can't you find a cayman at a dealer to try out? Its not certain that you will have more fun in one on the road, thats why it's so important to try one first. Though going over board with mods have plenty of drawbacks aswell.

Dunno. I can't afford a faster car that isn't falling apart.

Have a look through Turo if you want to rent something for a few hours.

Fast is relative however I must say the power my 911 Turbo WAS intoxicating. I actually like a lot of things better about my FRS.

I would repeat the old internet saying of "Have you ever seen anyone being sad while driving a Ferrari?" But then we should take a look at Charles Leclerc.

Cheap consumables, not having to go into licence losing territory to enjoy it. I like the rawness of the FRS lol I call it my mini GT3. It’s track focused and performs well there. Faster cars for the most part are no faster in turns except for a couple at Big Willow.

Just a very playful car

last saturday, i was making my normal hardware store run.. leaving a light, i do what i normally do, rev out 1st. just as i'm shifting to 2nd with the motor screaming, i see a cop metering my lane of traffic. i tense up for a second and check my speed... 25 in a 35... it was somehow funnier to me that here i am beating on my car directly in front of a cop, and i'm still well within legal limits

would definitely be in a different position if i had something with more power
