While the right thickness and size to cut 2 gaskets out of, that isn't the right material. That's neoprene rubber (dense), not neoprene foam. Big difference. Read the comments on the item. The proper fit of the taillights relies on the gasket foam compressing a bit and forming a seal (made better by using a weatherstrip adhesive or the like). If you use a material that doesn't compress enough, it won't form a very good seal and your tail lights won't be as tightly mounted as they should be.

That stuff is a dense solid rubber. You want this:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003IDDV70?ie=UTF8&at=&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links"]Sponge Neoprene 1/4" Thick X 54" Wide X 1' - Amazon.com[/ame]

I used this on my painted oem tails, still no condensation after a fair bit of rain and three weeks.

Yep, that'll work! The most important attributes are that it's closed-cell and the right thickness (1/4".)

lol... appreciate the DIY, but hopefully getting my tails changed from the dealership the SECOND time around... will make them throw in new gaskets =[ ... this shouldn't be something we have to pay for out of pocket.

Not yet. The manufacturer is taking their sweet time. I have you on the notification list, so you'll be among the first to know.

Thanks.
