Thanks. That's useful information. Paying that much and then having to replace it in a year because it's yellowed isn't worth it.

FWIW mine has been on for over a year and still looks brand new. Weathertech is also known for standing behind their products. If the cover prematurely yellowed I think they would send a replacement.

You probably do not get it. It has nothing to do with protecting plate from elements. License plate cover is designed to interfere with flash strobes in red light or speed cameras and prevent clear picture of the plate to be taken. This is a beauty of them.

There's one guy who developed a $300 frame that had strobes in it that would flash in sympathy with the traffic camera flash, and that thing actually worked... until Redflex made a simple alteration to their firmware that makes the camera take two photos faster than the capacitor in the strobe could recharge. And even when it worked, it only worked if the camera had a flash. Don't waste your money and get tickets anyway. |

Of cause no one will advertise this feature, because it is in fact illegal. |

$40 is a lot to spend on pitted and oxidized yellowed plastic that will have to go into the trash anyway when it's not 'clear' anymore.
