as always the best, most flexible option imho is the open source one (RomRaider). that just makes sense, as open source software is almost always better and more flexible than it's proprietary competition (ex. Postgres, GNU/Linux, Nginx, and about a million more). then again i'm a little biased .

At this point Openflash is just a brand of Hardware. The software used to tune the ROM file provided by the hardware (OFT) is either Tuner Pro or RomRaider. I use RomRaider almost exclusively now thanks to all the work put in by Td-d

Good comparison btw!

No I used it as a reference of the ability to compare files, I also provided a link to the MegaManual at the end because the concept of tuning does not vary greatly and that manual is Very well thought out and done. A great resource to start learning from.

But Tuner Pro and Tuner Studio are two different programs and referenced mainly to show the differences in logging ability and file comparison. Two area's I think both need further development for the FRS/BRZ/FT86 platform.
I just gave specific examples because I like to believe those with the ability to make such advancements sometimes look over the feedback others give.
Also those coming in who are used to two popular platforms such as HP Tuners and/or Megasquirt/Tuner Studio will have a better idea what to expect as well. (Like when I jumped in)

What confused me was the interchangability of TunerPro and TunerStudio in the same paragraph.

I learned most things I know about tuning on my old 5SFE MR2 with a Megasquirt2 XD so don't worry, I was just a tad confused that's all

I was mainly on the Mazda KL 2.5L V6 side and also the Miata side as well. I have also tuned a few odd ball cars running MS to include a Sand Buggy with a Turbo VW Motor. (That thing was a lot of fun in the dirt lol)

Either way I understand, thanks for making sure as it could have confused someone else. It still might I will look into changing it.

Alright I started my review of on EcuTek. I am going to keep working with it for now before doing a final edit but that is the last step. Then I will review the whole thread for any possible corrections and it should be done.

Hopefully this is helpful to others out there!

So I am editing the main post to reflect this but as a warning to all those thinking they will just copy the OFT Tunes and use them in EcuTek. There seem to be a few missing tables that I have found while looking through RomRaider and EcuTek at the tunes available.

The Two I was not able to find in EcuTek but were in the new 1.55B Maps under Rom Raider were:
Feedback Correction Range (RPM) and Fine Correction Column (Load)

Now I could have overlooked them but I sat going through the tables 1 by 1 as you have to due to EcuTek's lack of a compare feature.... and I didn't find them. I will be looking into it further but at this time I felt it was worth bringing to the attention of those looking into doing this as I have heard others mention it quite a few times.
The tables I can't find above have to do with knock detection/correction.

The more I poke around the more I am finding tables that are just not in EcuTek ROM's vs OpenFlash ROMs....

Now I am sitting here going through them 1 by 1 but I cannot find ANY of the Cranking Fuel Injector Pulse Width Tables. I have been editing these on my OFT to work on Cold Starts with E85 however in EcuTek I cannot find them.... At this rate if I finish going through tables one by one and still do not find them I am going to have to start a list of tables that do not cross over for these two platforms...

If this is the case it will just mean that EcuTek takes a different approach most likely to editing these figures but it will also mean those who have been saying you can just compare the OFT tunes and copy over the changes will be missing quite a few important changes... and that could lead to a lot of problems.

Now just like the Shops have a compare feature and Pro Users don't, this could be the same situation. However it then raises the question, what do you have to pay for to get all the tables found under OFT in EcuTek?
