Checking fuses is always a good idea but I can't see how there could be a blown fuse since the Camera is powered directly from the head unit.

I'll check them anyway, but what are your thoughts on these pinouts?
I was thinking fuse for reverse backup lights.

Push and hold the home button then push the tune knob twice. It will go into maintenance mode. The 2nd screen you can check vehicle interface. It will tell you if it sees the reverse signal.

Thanks for the tip on maintenance mode. It shows that Reverse is detected (I also checked that the reverse light comes on - which it does). Not sure what NG means on the first screen. I guess my only next option is to reverse the white and black wires and see if that helps.

Hopefully I haven't fried the camera itself by sending it 12v instead of 6v.

Interestingly, maintenance mode also showed that VSS was not detected but I'm confident that pin was the same on both years too so maybe it does show until you are moving?? Anyway, going to try and fix the camera first before I worry about that too much.

So tonight I cut out all 4 splices to the backup camera pigtail and twisted the bare wires together to eliminate any issues with my connections.. Still nothing. I switched the White and Black Wires over, still nothing.

Guess I'm going to have to grab a multimeter.

BTW - The speed signal changed to 'On' once the car was moving.

My guess is the NG is Not Good or something like that. The 2018 radio mic has 2. The 2017 and pre have one mic. I believe that is why you get a NG on that one. It will still work. The USB 1 and 2 I have never seen them OK on mine but both work fine. The camera on yours is an issue. My settings below.

I think you are right. The Mic would make sense since only one of the two are working however I dont know whats up with my camera.. Anyway, I've ordered a replacement camera from a wrecked 2018 car as well as the correct bezel.

I still wont be able to troubleshoot until I get my multi meter back.

Ricco, when I changed my 2014 camera to the 2018 camera, I had to swap the red and yellow wires on the 2018 camera harness to match the Fujitsu10 head unit from what I recall. So the plug is the same, but the wire placement is not.

how much would it cost and would i also be able to get the functionality of my steering wheel and usbs and what not?

I'm not sure yet. So I just purchased the headunit on ebay and it should be here within the next week. Once it is, I'll start digging into it and seeing what needs to be done to make it work 100%.

Hi Rico, thanks, I got the rear camera working. I bought the D83 connector and connect with 4 PIN aftermarket camera, it works perfectly

Hey any updates on this topic in general? i'd like to purchase a 2018 and put it into my 2017 brz but i'm not sure how to do it. Any tips? Also, any problems with this headunit? Subaru seemed to have issues with it. I prefer oem as well.

Thank you!

It has been a couple of years, no “Problems” except normal Apple Play issues. I have a 2019 Ranger now and it’s apple car play is not as stable at this one. I finally picked up a 2018 harness. It was out of a TS. It has been on EBay for a year and he finally accepted my offer. Now to get back into it and remove the home made connectors and put real ones in. I will be using the radio connectors from it. If anyone needs any of the other connectors let me know.

Ok the whole harness for these 3 connectors. Just in case someone is pulling one from a wreck these are the 3 you will need. The one with 4 wires is backup camera, the 2 wire connector is for the USB interface, the 1 wire is for the retained accessory.

I made one change in the wire diagram. I hooked up the Car Play interface box power to the remote amp on circuit. This will allow car play to remain on during retained accessory.

So I have a 2013 BRZ. I figured out the wiring to get the Non-Navi radio from a 2016 or 2017 to work. I have a 2019/2020 Navi Radio. I got it hooked up, everything seems to be working EXCEPT, the radio audio is missing the low end. I had this issue when I upgraded to the 2016/2017 Non-Navi radio, but when i moved the pins it worked.

Does anyone know where the issue is for the missing low end/bass and what I need to move to fix it. I've been looking at wiring diagrams.
