There is also a GT2860RS Ball Bearing for $600 less than GTX2860R. Now I question, do I really want a GTX2860R for DD and rare autox/tracking or can someone be equally happy with the cheaper turbo options?

https://www.86speed.com/products/jdl...ild-a-kit.html

Not exactly sure what the hp numbers mean on this page, is that hp the turbo adds to the car's current hp, or hp the car can have after setup/tuning?
I was in the same boat. Track and Autox my car with the GT2860RS. Full boost (8psi) by 3600rpm, 290whp.

I didn't think the GTX was worth it for my application, especially at lower boost levels. When I eventually build my block I might go for the upgrade, but wasn't worth it at the time.

That's my reasoning at least. I could deal with swapping the manifold every couple years, but an entire turbo kit... I dunno about that one. The fact that some of the superchargers are CARB legal is cool, it's just that knowing you dropped the same amount of cash as a turbo kit that would be a lot more efficient is a tough pill to swallow.

I'm still not sure which route I'll go eventually, but for the time being I'm gonna enjoy the simple stock life. And who knows, maybe someday I'll go all in and buy a lift along with the turbo kit haha.
Yeah thats fair. I went the SC route a while ago and tbh I regretted it. The kit itself was great (Edelbrock) and the CARB legal was nice to have, but compared to my friends SBD Turbo FRS, it just didnt have the drama I specifically was looking for when boosting the car. Which I should have realized. But I'm back to full bolt ons e-85 and will probably go turbo one day

I’ve heard people say that. How does the car feel now? What kind of driving do you do?

If I go supercharger down the road I was considering the JRSC since it seems like it builds power similar to a turbo, yet is linear in the upper RPMs where you do your performance driving. Did you get to drive a JRSC car before you made the choice to go with the Edelbrock?

I'm a huge fan of bolts on and e85. Honestly it feels just like the Edelbrock, just less power. So if you want to know how it feels for little cost just do that upgrade.

The JSRC isn't bad. I didnt like how much like stock it felt down low and then all the power is above 5k. Especially at the time. This was my daily for about a year and I didnt want something where the only time I noticed a difference was above the 5k mark which I wasn't going to hit often on day to day driving.

For now I do mostly back roads driving with the car. While I realize the SC would be better suited for that then the turbo, the turbo would also make my freeway trips a bit more fun since this is strictly a weekend car at this point. I also own a Ford Focus ST (turbo) and I realize I just really like that type of feel in the car.

Yes it does. The inlet and outlet are in the same position.

Might just go with the V2 kit then get the V3 FMIC if needed since the price difference is the same

Anybody running the 3" JDL OP/FP combo with the JDL turbo kit? any clearance issue with the 3" OP, is it hitting the sway bar/ cross member or something. I remember before they had issues with 3" OP, i dont know if it has been resolved.

Im not running JDLs OP/FP combo per se, however I am running a custom one off JDL titanium 3" over pipe and it was definitely difficult to wiggle it in their but there is no actual issue with fitment. Ive had it for about 8k miles with no leaks or issues.

I am a noob and have two quick easy questions, so take pity on me. I am going to order my JDL kit before the end of the month and I am looking to upgrade my exhaust this weekend. First question is should i go with a 2.5" or 3" exhaust (Invidia *R400 Gemini) if I plan on staying under 400hp. My second question: is anyone running the Garret G25-550 turbo?

Turbos benefit from free-flowing exhaust. 3" would be better, but 2.5" will still be fine. Also, if you run an open dump, it's almost irrelevant.

I'm not sure but I emailed JDL asking about it and they said it would be no problem to build the kit. It's a few hundred extra.

Another JDL kit gets installed!!!!!

I just wanted to come on here and share my opinion on the kit, excellent fitment and quality. Got the FMIC version with the JDL crash bar and JDL oil cooler, everything bolted on perfectly and the car got tuned by James at HRI and it drives like a DREAM. Running 10 PSI and this shit feels like a ferrari

I was never boosted before so having a boosted car for the first time is pretty exciting
