Inner conflict about LT/WRB BRZ in Atlanta - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Hey guys,
My car has finally arrived today.
But unfortunately I think I am gonna let this one go.

My OTD number is :
$31,527 OTD LT/MT/WRB
includes
(Atlanta MSRP + $750 doc/"dealer service" fee )

For the last week I had this dialog in my head.

A (reasonable, calculating adult with finance degree, who understands the consequences of this purchase)
B (crazy youth, car enthusiast, victim of media hype, who read too much initial D and tired of his old beater)

A: You can not afford this car
B: Hell yes I can, I have a steady finance job and no other obligations like mortgage or rent.

A: You just graduated from college. You have 630 credit score, and you got 7.5%APR for 60 months from Subaru financing. You can not afford this car!
B: Pffft. Car loan is the best way to rebuild credit score, and you can always refinance a few months later, when you get a better score.

A: David Ramsey says if car costs more then 50% of your annual salary, YOU CAN NOT AFFORD THIS CAR!!!
B:

LOL UMAD BRO? OTD price is only 85% of your salary. It's not that bad. Besides you don't have any other obligations like rent/mortgage/school loans. Don't be a ***** roll like a man

Well as of today my reasonable side won the argument (as it always does

). And I am gonna pass on this one. I just hope my crazy side will not overpower me when I actually see WRB in person later today.

Were I in that situation I would hold off and wait till I could really afford the car. Sinking so much of your salary into a car is insane... That doesn't even factor in insurance+gas+if you actually need to use your insurance and that $500/$1000 deductible comes due...

The salesman at my dealership mentioned seeing a WRB when they unloaded mine.

Good luck saying 'no' to this car.

Given everything you describe above, its the right thing to do. On the bright side, your patience will pay off in the long run.

Best of luck to you with it and eventually you will get the car. Heck, save your pennies, and in 3 years you could probaby pay cash for a 2013 model and be no worse for wear!

Ah yes, the reasonable side. That buzzkilling asshole has been bothering me for quite a while. However, he's convinced me that my debts must all be paid (minus mortgage) before I purchase the car as well.

I applaud you're decision. Picking up an expenditure of this magnitude (relative to your finances) is a horrible choice that could set you back years.

85% assuming you'd be paying the car off in 12 months instead of 60 months.

Just keep in mind, life passes by quick. Here today, gone tomorrow. I just turned 34 today and I've been going back and forth on it in my head a little. Life's too short though. I've got a good job. Time to just bite the bullet and replace my beater.

Most important thing is that you're happy with your decision!

Haha I'm pretty sure this is the car that I ordered and backed out on for my 135i. Herman told me a couple weeks ago it would be there mid June.
