There is no problem with getting in arguments. If you get into a position that you are getting annoyed with it just ask yourself, "is it productive to continue this conversation?", or my favorite. "Is continuing still entertaining?" If no just stop responding.

I disagree. If it gets boring just troll harder and make it entertaining!

In this case it was more of the first, plus the third "are people going to actually consider my opinion or just keep acting like it's an evil or worthless thing?"

One person was already calling me "insane" for literally having an opinion that they didn't see merit for.

Clearly he doesn't know you at all. That's not the reason.

I mean, if you have the dough... To be conflicted over such completely different cars is interesting. Maybe you need to experience both for a while.

I've never been a muscle car guy so I'm already jaded.

Reminds me, when I was a kid none of the car guys wanted the '71s. That was the first year the compression ratios and HP took a big drop.

Well a Camaro is more of a Pony car and a Monte Carlo is a luxobarge pretending to be a muscle car.

If looking for classic then go MOPAR or stay at home! The best part of classic MOPAR muscle is that they still make parts and they are reasonably inexpensive to repair and maintain.

Some things to keep in mind with classic muscle some of which may or may not bother you depending upon your planned use.

They are loud, uncomfortable and handle like crap. If they are missing any one of those things they are not a real muscle car.

They drink gas like you would not believe until you have experienced it. Keep your wallet as full as your tank!

They smell like crap and sitting idling at a light with wind coming from behind will damn near choke you to death. Think of the worst uncatted new car you have smelt and multiply that by 100. Not joking!

Be prepared to adjust carbs, timing, dwell etc. by hand every time the air pressure changes. No computer changing things for you just your ears, nose and a screwdriver.

Even the very best restoration or well maintained low miles original WILL rust if driven in any form of damp weather at all. They were not made of the same martials modern cars are and rusted and will rust out before your eyes if driven much at all.

If just looking for a driver they can be quite reasonable. If looking for collector or show qualities they can be through the roof. The values fluctuate by huge percentages depending on what is "in" at the moment. A car that is $20,000 this year could be $80,000 or $2,000 next year. A top level restoration or original car will drop in value like a stone if you drive it even a little. Driver cars are not collectors cars.

Watch out for clones or "resto" mods. There are more Chevelle SSs on the road today than they made throughout their whole production run! People will often try to get real trim level prices for fakes. Rest mods are actually pretty cool if you want a regular driver. They can have pretty much a whole new modern drive train and supporting systems BUT they are NOT a classic muscle car. Great if you want the looks but none of the hassles.

God I want a 67 to 70 MOPAR again. Don't even care which model as long as it is the actual muscle version.

The compression ratio and the pollution control crap that came out that year did have some impact but the seemingly huge drop in HP was not real. It just happened that the way in reporting HP (from SAE gross to net) changed that year so even though most of the engines actually only lost 2 to 10 hp the rating was 30 or 40 lower. Engines did not all of a sudden just drop massive amounts contrary to myth.
