I just think it's funny that every person who buys a cheap ass sports car thinks an unpleasant noise is a problem.

Buy a Lexus next time.

Thanks everyone (except blaine, no need to be rude) for the responses! I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a catastrophic sound and see what everyone else had done about it. last time I heard a funny sound from my car's engine, the engine was on its deathbed, so I am a bit paranoid!

I too shall wait it out and hope it stops after awhile. Also thanks for the gas recs, will try different brands over the next few fill ups.

^This, I've had the chirps from both Costco & Chevron gas, switched to shell and the chirps went away. As a double check, went back to Chevron and 2-3 tanks later, chirps were back, switched again to Shell, and they were gone.

Since there wasn't a definite fix (just replacing the HPFP with the same, "new" pump) I didn't bother wasting my time taking it to the dealer.

That's not rude... lol.

This is rude (but also the truth): If you would have taken 5 min to search the forums you could have found all of this information and not made a misplaced thread in the NorCal section. The fuel pump chirping has nothing to do with the region.

You'll get to know me soon enough.

man now you've reduced me to arguing over the internet...

i actually did search quite extensively prior to posting, and learned that it was a mixed bag of results for other people. if you read my original post, i was asking for dealership recommendations (i bought my car no where near the bay area which is why i was asking). the nature of the responses veered the thread slightly off topic and to a similar conclusion as the threads in the other sections.

if anyone else has actually had the change, I would still like to hear your recommendations for where you had the work done.

I'm really good at that.

Like I said before it's not really a problem and no need to take your car into any dealer. See blow, or see above because I posted it earlier.

Mine stopped chirping around 20K miles and has not started since. I never had any service done related to the mater.
Plus like everyone who said in THIS thread any others that when the dealer did any "fix" it just came back.

I do get my car serviced at Peircy and so far my experience has been pleasant when your looking for service not related to this issue.

One guy got his pump replaced and his car ended up burning to the ground as a result of improper installation.

That's reason enough for me never to take it in for this.

Hahaha. I'm sure the dealer bought him a new car but that's super funny! I would be soooo pissed!!!

Trying to get back on topic, I've had good experience with Livermore Subaru. I know @PMok got his pump replaced there and it hasn't caught on fire (knock on wood ). The bad thing is that their master tech is the only one qualified to work on these cars and he only works on weekdays, if that might be an issue with you. Give them a call about my tail lamps and since it was a warranty issue, I got a rental for the rest of the day until I could pick it up after work.

I will share my personal experience. I had the chirps start at about 2500 miles.. I had fed it primarily v power. After researching some I found it was partially the gas. I have been feeding chevron gas for last 500 and chirps have become significantly quieter

Dont let Blaine get into your nerves, he's just like that, but a pretty cool dude once you've met him. And he's been driving the car for over 25k miles (though i dont know if he's been hands-on with the car's engine), but he knows a couple of things about the car.

@BlaineWasHere yoh, how's your car insurance when they found out you're driving a less than a year old car with already 25k+ miles on it?

I have chirping at idle and I've used V Power since the first tank of dealer gas. I don't really care about it because supposedly it doesn't cause any problem besides annoying you.

I hate dealers working on my car so I won't take it in for that. I haven't even taken it for GPS or tail lights yet. Probably going to wait until the warranty is almost up...
