My brother currently has a 3rd gen TTRS, which is on the MQB platform with the MK7. It’s a technical wonder, and it feels like it’s a mini super car in some ways. Quattro and DSG (or whatever Audi calls it) combine to make a great car. But for lack of a better term you feel a little disconnected from the road, and it’s not as tossable of course as a good RWD car. It reigns in the fun quickly. I guess it’s more along the lines of the GTR. Not as powerful as the GTR, but it’s a technical wonder. That doesn’t always equal fun to me, especially when you consider the price. I love old school Japanese cars (90’s to early 2000’s) so I’ve never bonded with most VW or Audi stuff. The only German car I’ve owned was a new MK5 GTI, and I did like it. I didn’t love it though, and only kept it for a couple of years. I regretted selling my WRX to get it. I know there has been a lot of evolution from the MK5 to MK7 generations.

Thanks for that insight. The last Haldex car I had was a MK1 TT with the K04 1.8T, haldex 1. It was understeer on turn in and then violent oversteer somewhere around the apex as the haldex clutch grabbed. It was scary at the limit.

Sure no problem! My family has purchased a lot of VW/Audi products. I wish they bought Toyota/Lexus but that’s ok.
The MK1 TT is such an icon, and despite their flaws are still a really good car. My brother’s MK3 TTRS is very quick with just a Stage1 setup, faster than most cars. But you are very isolated from the speed. Which is good and bad. It’s not punishing to drive every day.

This is the TTS, which I really liked. I need to get some pics of the RS.

God the current TT always floors me with how pretty it is. Kills me that you can’t get a manual anymore.

The MK1 TT was amazing. It has a ton of flaws, but more than makes up for it with its character. I miss it.

It’s a beautiful car, and I like that they have kept the same design elements as the original. Audi does understated but gorgeous design better than anyone. The interiors are just as good. I miss the MK1 also, it had so much character.
My brother wished he could get a manual in the TTRS, almost every car he has owned was a manual. DSG is so good it almost makes up for it.

Yep I had an injector and HPFP go out on my mk6 GTI for no reason at 53k miles.

One thing I will say about VW though. Certain parts will repeatedly break on their cars, but they are great about identifying those parts and extending the warranty on them at no cost to owners. The above-mentioned injector and HPFP were both covered since VW had decided to extend the warranty on those parts to 10y/100k miles. Same for two water pumps that failed while I owned it, both covered after VW decided to extend the warranty on those parts.

I was concerned about the timing chain tensioner issue, but VW also offered a pro-rated 100k mile warranty on that part (and related damages) as well. Mine never broke thankfully, but it was nice knowing that at least some of the repairs would be fixed if it failed before 100k miles.

With the MQB platform, it seems like VW squashed out most of their reliability issues. I haven't heard of any major issues with the mk7 GTI, Golf, Tiguan, or Jetta. Only exception is the Atlas apparently.

Except for the MkV Supra, which had to be one of the longest, most drawn out developments I’ve ever seen. Literally years on years worth of speculation and camo wrapped cars all over the internet.

Well to be fair to Toyota a lot of that was just people on the internet wanting to get attention. Toyota wasn’t revealing much of anything about a new Supra. Once they announced the partnership with BMW, it made it into production fairly quickly (for a low volume sports car).

Looks like the magazine just edited the original BRZ photos taken at the same place.

Well if its just another fan render then its certainly an interesting one. First time I've seen that outlet behind the rear wheels.
