My car is currently an hour away from me I'm storing it at my wifes father's farm for now but the next time I go up I'm going to take some pictures the engine and all of the other parts were put on a skid and wrapped up with plastic wrap and I haven't had a look at it yet.

Don't sit on this. Call and call and call and demand they fix this issue. Eventually they'll give.

Hello BikerBrad89, and welcome to our (used to be happy) group …

Maybe just leave it in the barn for a future "barn find"??

Too soon - sorry -

State: Ontario Canada
Is Dealership Offering Repair: No they said it has nothing to do with the recall work and were going to charge me 6000 for a used engine and labor, or they would give me 6000 for the car as is for a trade in.

I took my car in right around the middle of January to have the recall work done, 3 days later I finally got my car back and everything seemed to be alright with it. Right around two weeks later I was merging onto the highway and notice I don't seem to have much power then shortly after I start to hear a slight knocking noise from the engine. At this point I am almost home so I keep going but the Knocking gets worse eventually stalling my engine. I tried to start the car again but it would not turn over so I ended up getting it towed to Toyota where they spent two days tearing the engine apart. They told me I had a broken connecting rod bearing and that it would have nothing to do with the recall work they did because the work was done on the upper part of the engine not the bottom end. After calling Toyota Canada Headquarters and getting a response of well if the dealership said its not from the recall work then there is nothing we can do, I ended up taking the car and the engine as they left it, and have been waiting for nicer weather to start working on the car myself. At this point though I wont be touching it until we hear something from Toyota about this whole mess. In the mean time I have had to start financing another car to have transportation again. What a nightmare I miss my car!
sounds like they really just wanted your car. Totally evil. You have to literally torcher everyone from the dealer to corporate Toyota for them to do anything. Keep at it daily and you will be helped. Make sure you tell corporate they wanted to buy your car, that right there is a massive red flag.

Although the conversation is distracting it does keep the thread near the top. If there is not enough activity it will sink down the list and we will just end up with a bunch of new ones. As annoying as it may seem the ongoing conversations do serve the purpose of keeping the thread visible. Not hardtop scan through for the info you are looking for.

15 of the top 25 threads isn’t enough! Post more valve spring threads!

Seriously though, while this is a good list for people to look at, I don’t see it proving much. This is an enthusiast forum, our numbers are limited from the get go. Service managers aren’t going to check a forum and suddenly change their attitude. Sounds like they don’t even want to recognize all the published documents on this situation, some guy from the internet isn’t suddenlly a sealant application expert.

@BigTuna, I know it's a bit of a pain but if you want to keep them together you could copy/paste each one in your top post as they are added. It just takes a few seconds. I do a similar thing on my Landmarks thread whenever someone adds a photo.

@Tcoat is correct if this doesn't show up in the New Posts listing on occasion people will not see it.

I believe this has reached the level of Stickyable?

Still think a lot of persons won't see it. I NEVER look at the Forum front index. Only thing I do is go to "New Posts" and scan down the thread listings. I suspect that is a more standard behavior than not, but I could be wrong. Sticky threads never show in that list unless posted to, just like any other thread.

Sticky will make it less visible.
If the info is that valuable to you then take the few minutes and do as Hawk said.

If it was my thread, I would. I've been trying to keep the Google sheets file linked on page 3 up to date, and it's hard to sift through the discussions to find the actual issue posts.

I think I'm just anxious/paranoid about my car (Dropped off at dealer March 5th, before this all blew up so much), and I'm trying to gorge myself with information since I can't drive mine. lol
