Performance Package Brembos Freezing to Wheels?

I've had the '17 PP BRZ for a few months now. I just recently got 18x8+45 Raijins and this past week I've had this weird occurrence where the car wouldn't move when slightly accelerating, but then I hear a very subtle pop/knock that sounds like it's coming from the wheel well and the car moves fine. It's only happened twice, but never happened before these wheels and never happened on the '13 I owned for two years prior to this one. It has been raining and in the low 30's so I'm not sure if the small clearance between the Brembos and wheels is causing water in between them to freeze and they get slightly stuck or what's going on. Anybody else have any experience with this? I can't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary after it dislodges but it's still pretty weird. It's an MT if that makes a difference

Is there any resistance b4 the car moves? Maybe the water froze the axel? Lol mine does something similar if i wash her then the temperature drops below freezing overnight. The pop happens in the rear for me.

Yeah it feels like the car is fighting against me to move. Granted I'm in my driveway when this occurs so I'm barely giving it gas but I'll slightly accelerate and then it feels like it tries to go forwards then comes back. Then I give it more gas and it pops loose. It could be the back, unsure. I'm not a morning person at all and just went from 2nd to 3rd shift so I'm not quite awake when this has been occurring

Do you set your parking brake or leave it in gear or both?

Your hearing the parking brake shoes sticking to the inside of the rotor. Common issue if the car sits for a day or so with the brake set.

My guess is that parking brake pads is sticking because of cold/water. It happens to me also, specially in rainy weather. Try parking the car without applying the parking brake. Use wheel chocks to avoid rolling the car. If it doesn't stick and you can drive the car without any popping noise, then you know it was just parking brake pads sticking and you don't have to worry about it.

yup, sometimes rust will form from rain water etc and stick the brake shoes to the rotors. they'll clean up after a few stop and goes.

My MY13 GT86 does this. It's rust forming between pad and disc and needs some torque to get them unstuck. Nothing unusual, just odd that you didn't experience this before. The joys of iron discs.

I don't have PP, normal MY14 GT86. Always park mine in gear, not with handbrake. Mine sometimes does this too in winter, like for Kodename47, especially if i haven't driven it .. eg. for half a week. One pop/knock sound as wheels start turning, after giving very slightly more gas, and off she goes. Not bothered by it, just remember it happening from time to time to me too, when i saw this thread.
What would bother me, if i heard light squeel all the time of pads dragging all the time. But that slight stuck of rust or freezing? Not.

It does not always have to do with the parking brake shoes. The regular brake pads are susceptible to this as well. You get moisture in there and they will lightly bond to the rotors. Its not a big deal. Totally normal.
