It's going to be far more than that!

-the guys who do a complete teardown in their garage
-BRZ only crowd
-FRS only crowd
-Hellaflush/bagged/stance
-SCCA/trackday group
-JDM clean and simple
-bone stock, scared to void the warranty no mods
-can barely afford so can't mod

and then...
-RICERS

Not sure it will be a "trade up" per se... I think it will be more like a trade off. Murderous straight line speed, and above average handling to murderous (hopefully) handling and below average speed. If the FT/FR/BRZ is more than say $23k I'm not going to buy it... It will need at the very least a turbo to have any chance to keep up with my car. Which in and of itself is iffy because of the lack of tuning support for the Toyota ecu programming. If I can't customize a car with power mods I won't buy it... end of story. I don't car how technical of a track I'm on, there are still straights that I will kill people on all day long. Plus this new rumor about the FT weighing almost 3,000lbs isn't exciting me at all.

But that said... If there is one in a dark metallic red, it would look soooo sexy with a set of these Gramm Lights on it

Why on earth would a Subaru engineered car, built in a Subaru factory with a Subaru engine have a Toyota ecu?

You would have to ask Subaru that... Why wouldn't they? Since the motor was designed and built by the Toyota/Yamaha side and it uses the D-4S injection. Hopefully they do end up using a Subie ECU. It will be essentially unlocked already since there is already alot of tunig support for Subie ECUs. While, on the other hand, there is basically zero tuning for the Toyota D-4S

I think that's where you've been misled.

At least I certainly hope so.

Do some reading.

Toyota took the motor and fully built it from the ground up with D4-S

Hell buddy, I hope I have been misled as well... Having a subie ecu would make tuning so easy. Hell Cobb tuning is like an hour away from me... I could do a full turbo build and take it to them to have it tuned if that were the case. But all reports so far is that the Toyota ECU will be used, well a Denzo ecu actually which supplies subi and toyota, but the ecu will (from my understanding so far) be written in the toyota binary.

I really hope I'm wrong... like really really hope I'm wrong and it comes with subie programming, Toyota if you read these forums ever... Please Please Please put the subie coded ECU in the car. If not you WILL lose sales of this little beast.

Ya know!

Since the wheel pattern is 5x100, no love for TE's and especially the TE37SL. .
