Or do I need to get the one that costs significantly more?

@TemeCal says his brother uses the cheaper one and his is lowered. So if you're stock, I'm guessing you'll be fine.

Yeah this is what I was thinking too . . . just didn't wanna get the smaller one if it was going to be annoying to use

If you do get it, let me know how it works out. If it's fine, I'm going to pick one up the next time I go down to the States.

I drive my car on ramps first then use the jack. Low profile jacks are the way to go if you plan to go lowered.

If they're low enough for your car, the lightweight aluminum jacks work well. If you use a jack a lot, however, they don't last all that long.

I use an AC Hydraulics DK13HLQ when a low-profile jack is required. It's a 3½" jack, and I really like that it can lift as high as I need (max of 29"): http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...yd1-detail.htm. Not cheap, but you'll never buy another jack.

Guaranteed can find this jack in states. Its Michelins Branded low profile jack. Not only is it super low profile but also a looong reach. Ive jacked cars even lower then mine which is 1.5" less then stock to ground with zero issue, it's fantastic!

Wow, that Michelin jack looks amazing. It's built for race cars!

Anyways, if you can't get your jack under the car, put your front axle on some wood board, then you'll be good to go.

I bought this one, similar to michelin jack. I'm not lowered, and i'm glad i got this. Jacking up at the rear diff, the length really helps. It's HEAVY at ~97 lbs though, you'll only roll it around.

I was also going to get http://www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-h...nds-38846.html and http://www.harborfreight.com/solid-r...ock-96479.html

I posted on this thread http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10111 to get GrimmSpeed to relink the photos, but they haven't done it yet.

Is it a good idea to use a hockey puck between the jack and the car to protect the car?

And lastly, sorry to threadjack, but could someone please confirm that the areas circled in blue are the front and rear jack points?

@Selvedge
yes circled ones are jack points

Not to rain on anyone's Harbor Freight parade, but you wouldn't catch me under a car only being held up by one (or two). Use jack stands after you get it up in the air. Of course, YMMV,

Absolutely agree. And for extra measure after the car is up on four 3-ton jackstands, I place the raised jack in light contact with the crossmember closest to the CG.

So you'd get under a car held up by some other brand jack? I don't care where the jack is from because you don't ever get under a car until its on stands.

How are people minimizing damage to the "support positions" in the diagram? A puck with a groove?
