Difference between 17 86 and earlier models crank sensor

Hi guys...new here. I can't seem to get info anywhere. I was recently trying to install a Unichip but noticed that the crank sensor connector was a 2 wire while my crank sensor connector is a 3 wire...Is this correct? Or am I looking at the wrong sensor?

What you need to do is return the Unichip and buy an OFT.

I may very well do that. But is there a difference between the 17+ crank sensor and earlier models?

I believe the facelift models, 17' and up are different.

Thanks. I may roll with the Unichip until I become full bolt on...right now I only have a Spec D exhaust and Borla UEL headers.

I just double checked, 16' is a two wire. 17' is a 3 wire. One wire on the 17 goes to the fuel pressure sensor.

Thank you. That was great help...Now I just need to get that info to Unichip...I wonder why they weren't aware of that? Maybe BRZ owners stop buying the Unichip before 2017?

Compared to other tuning options (tactrix, OFT, and Ecutek) the Unichip has not been as popular of an option during the span of the car. Looks like there are some threads on it, but not a lot of resource.

Thanks. I'm sending the Unichip back and have ordered the OFT...I've installed Borla UEL headers and combined with my Hikeit throttle controller and Spec D exhaust this car is seriously fun... even more fun than my 17 Camaro 2.0t. I can only imagine what a stage 2+ tune will do for the 86.
