I say either, much more has been changed in the driveline than so far released or that 20 WHP figure is just pre sales hype.
The video was the first time I heard about the 15-20 figure, granted I haven't been following this as close as some people.

Why not ask the source? @Moto-P

Edit: Did a quick Google and found this.

The "Kouki 86"will see a change best appreciated by the fans of the current models, says sources. While the engine will still be a flat-four FA20 that has powered the Scion FR-S/ Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ since 2013, the 2017 will feature extensive tweaks in myriads of ways inside, each subtle, but collectively very significant, to enhance response, fluidity, an even more linear torque delivery, and tactility for performance drivers. What these changes will actually consist of is still unpublished, but we are expecting a more closer number to the catalog output of 205 ps than previous models had respectively to its catalog spec of 200. So the "actual" increase might not be just 5 hp difference of catalog's 200 to 205 at all, but much more. This also applies to the torque figures.
Also I would assume, that the changes in power output is basically a side-effect of honing the engine to even higher levels of control and communication character to the driver, so while the output may still be modest, the thrill and engagement for an experienced driver has been greatly enhanced.

I'd love for that to become the new trend.
Instead of wildly-optimistic horsepower claims that later turn to be embarrassingly far from the truth (I'm looking at you, Hyundai and Mazda), we'd get numbers more in-line with what is actually there where the rubber meets the road.

Or perhaps revised intake and exhaust manifolds with a tune to match.

I think 5 HP is what's on official sales documents. 15-20 WHP is coming from a reliable journalist/enthusiast (in this case Moto Miwa) who has a sterling record of accuracy.

Keep in mind manufacture reported HP numbers are sometimes understated due to national restrictions and tarrifs for import/export. Many Japanese coupes over the past few decades came in at 2.0L and 200-215 HP for this reason.

Ya eninge is probably under rated for 205 hp now... instead of overated 200.

*Look @ new torque curve, We shouldn't argue such trivial things. Its gonna feel faster + with 4.3 final drive.

That's the first thing I searched when I saw the documents!
The spec spreadsheet is pretty confusing but my conclusion was the same, it seems to be 20-30lbs. Which is pretty good, I tough it would be more with all the things they changed/added.

Also, Yeah!, the hill-start assist can be turned off. I prefer my cars when they dont mess with my pedals input.

I don't know. Maybe he meant it "feel" like a 15-20hp increase. If you take into account the new final drive:
+5hp engine + 5% final drive + 5hp placebo effect = feels like 20hp more.

Agree with this. 20hp feeling on the butt dyno.

My question is:

What compatible parts should we swap for from the MY17+ versus aftermarket options we may have?

Possible, but that was not my sense of what Moto wrote - he's too experienced and sophisticated to make that type of unintentional confound, and while he is obviously a huge GT86 fan I doubt he's spouting pure marketing-speak.

I think the first question that a lot of us are going to ask is: Which of these parts can easily be fitted to earlier vehicles with or without supporting modifications to other areas. Don't know if this is the right place to put this, but I wanted to start a thread where we could hopefully begin to collect this information so that people could have a one-stop-shop when it comes to discussing backwards compatibility for the new parts.
