LOL if I could focus on something like that all the time I'd have gone in a different direction decades ago. Me + focus = meh, sometimes.

Good reviews. The couple of bad ones were responded to and as far as I can see they were not valid.

Not surprised at all that these engines can be hard to find since they were a relatively low production unit to start with. The valve spring recall failures chewed up a few but before that bad turbo installs and tunes took out even more of them.

Well, I've given up and found a nice replacement vehicle for a lot less than it's going to cost to put an engine in my car so it's for sale. I have an issue though and maybe some of my fellow metro area people can help me out. I still owe a little bit on it and will pay it off with the sale but it can take another 4 to as much as 6 weeks to get the clear title letter from Chase Bank in the mail. Then you take it to the DMV and they issue a clear title. I don't know if they issue it on the spot or mail it, does anyone know if NY DMV offices print titles on the spot? The other delay is everything is appointment only at the DMV offices here in NY and you have to complete all transactions in your county and mine is backed up at least two weeks on appointments. This could mean as much as a 2 month delay getting the clear title to a buyer becaue I wouldn't make that appointment until I had the letter in hand.

Unfortunately because I have to buy a new vehicle I haven't been able to start this process because I need the money I have to do that or to have bought a motor and get it installed. Would "you" work with someone selling a car you want and be willing to wait for this process to be completed? If I can't find someone willing to wait it out I'm afraid the car will just sit in my driveway for who knows how long... I hate all these Covid delays to regular life things

Don't know exactly how it works, but I bought my car from a guy in NY that used Chase Bank and they were able to give him the title the day I bought the car, he completed the payoff at the same time. I'd check with the bank.

I use Chase also and that's what they told me. They don't handle it in house anymore, it goes to their finance division, hence the 4-6 week delay. Maybe I should try a larger branch.

When I sold my beater Durango the other day the guy was telling me about a JDM importer in NJ that usually has a stock of low mileage engines. Does anyone here know of this place?

Boy these things are tough to find a good used mtor for. Those JDM places are bogus, one keeps trying to sell me a motor from the WRX with a cracked timing cover, he's tried a half dozen times and I finally had to block his email address from sending me any more. I thought I had one out in the midwest but it turned out to have been through the wringer with a supercharger on it for 20k miles and lots of track time and no easy way to get it here other than an 1800 mile round trip to pick it up. There was another one in MN that sounds pretty good but I want to stay away from 13's (like mine) that had the recall work done.

I'm going to pull the insurance on the car for a while, put it on blocks in the driveway and pull the battery until the wrecks start showing up when the snow flies. If anyone has a line on something worth buying that isn't outrageously priced let me know please.

Where has all the compression gone
And where are all the rods?
Where's the streetwise 2JZs to fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a black top upon an SR20?
Late at night I toss and I turn
And I dream of what I need

I need an engine
I'm holdin' out for a engine 'til the end of the night
It's gotta be strong
And it's gotta be fast
And it's gotta be sealed up tight

I need an engine
I'm holdin' out for an engine 'til the morning light
It's gotta be sure
And it's gotta be soon
And it's gotta be paid on sight
Paid on sight (ah ah)

(it has been a very long day)

^^ That's pretty funny

I just want to say that we have a great little community here. In the space of the last 30 hours I've heard from two people with an engine available locally. Thanks folks!
