I think they look terrific, and you have to walk around one and sit in it to get the full effect. I think I would choose the 2.0 Supra in this scenario also. You get a full warranty on an engine that was meant to be turbocharged. I guess if you are planning a bunch of mods you could void the warranty.
A lot of guys have turbo’d and supercharged their FA20 and they seem to hold up really well if you keep the tune conservative. Which is impressive considering how high compression the engine is.

Is cost the main factor in not getting a 3.0?
At this point I'm sure there are some incentives/markdowns to get a 2020 3.0 for the same as they'd mark you up for a 2021 2.0.

It sounded to me you were head over heels with the supra. What makes you say supercharge the 86 over just buying a supra?

For real?!! I haven’t driven one so I have no idea. But compared to an 86?! It should feel like a damn rocket ship.

The power/weight ratio is pretty similar. The 2.0 Supra has more/wider torque, but it's also got a good amount of turbo lag.

The 0-60 is quick due to the gearing in the trans, but the 1/4 mile time is approximately similar to a well driven S2000

With the 3.0 out now is your recommendation the same?

What do you mean? The 3.0 was out first, nearly 2 years ago.

The 2.0 is just in a weird spot. Lose a few extras compared to the 3.0 and is really not a great value. Really just there for ppl who want the supra but can't stretch to the 3.0

It would make more sense if it was a the poser fleet vehicle like an Ecoboost mustang. But as they don't get many sales from it, it just doesn't make sense in the US at least. It may of had a better chance if it came with......a manual transmission. lol

I a completely agree. Keep everything the same on the brakes and dampers and LSD and throw in a manual I would buy it in a heartbeat

Matt Farah’s review of the 2.0 was bad. The only reason I would consider a used one is I like to mod, so maybe I could make it into what I want. But really I would rather do that with a 3.0. But honestly, I don’t see my self owning BMWs, but a couple of years from now let’s see what the prices are. Once this crisis crunch is over.
