Spark Plug Replacement
Oh boy. My FRS is coming up on 60k.... Read most of the horror stories on changing out the plugs, and although I'm reasonably competent with a set of wrenches, I think I'll leave this one up to the pros. But not the Toyota dealer...I hear they are charging upwards of 1k to do the deed.
I live in St.Louis MO. area. Any one know of any shops in this area/region that work on the twins? Any help/ideas would be appreciated! |

My dealer just quoted me $162 (+tax) for 60K service that I have scheduled for this Thursday. That service includes swapping the spark plugs.

And I got the work done Thursday 9 March. Sorry for the slow update here.
Yeah, they do charge a lot for spark plugs. For me, the spark plug swap ran $338 labor + $96 for the plugs. Since they were so far off on the estimate when I scheduled, they gave me $50 off ($288 for labor) and a free 1-day car rental. This was at Napleton's in Urbana, IL where I purchased the car and where I've had all service done (so far). There was about another $150 in costs for the 60K-mile service (oil change, etc.), which in total cost about $600 without the $50 discount.

Not in that area, but I was quoted $220 for my spark plug job where I'm at.. It turned out to be $478.
Didn't really expect it to be less than $300 though.. I kinda felt the service manager didn't know what he was talking about when he gave the quote. |

That certainly seemed to be true in my case. I wouldn't be surprised if mine is one of the first local FR-S's to hit 60K miles.
