Once again Steve99 should be thanked by the great number of people who have benefited from his time and trouble to advise and help us learn. It goes well beyond just clicking on the 'thanks' button on one of his posts.

I wonder how many thousands of people have Googled an issue about their cars and visited this forum and found better understanding because of the years of patience and knowledge Steve99 displays time after time helping people learn. He answers the questions of the newbie which have been answered before because I think he knows just being told 'do a search' will drive them off. By taking the time to re-answer he enriches us because the newbie stays and learn and eventually contributes. I Have read thousands of pages on this forum on every subject and I have found his presence on so many threads, always helping and not scorning their ignorance, just mentoring time after time. That's pretty rare and special in this world.

Thanks Steve

No ,as above, it doesn't require engine retune

However with manual cars the gear indicator in dash display will dispaly incorrect gears unless you change the gear determination threshold tables in the ecu (tune). As thes determine gear by relating engine rpm to speed.

The spedometer will be fine as its worked out off the wheel speed sensors.

Whenever I open Openflash Manager, it's almost always very slow to search for and download updates -- many times it never finishes and just hangs, and I have to close it and re-open, then it does it again. This is with the latest version, 1.28.0.

Is there any way to skip the update check?

I always disconnect from the internet before starting the open flash software. You should also be able to block the address in the Windows host file, but I didnt try that (yet)

hey guys! got my OFT today.I watched some youtube videos and read about installing it. It seemed to read the file just fine but when it was done it said to unplug the OFT. However, i thought i knew better and just turned key off (all the way i think?hope). I clicked "tune" and both read and write are greyed out. I did a lil reading on this thread and tried to hook my OFT to my laptop and i had the same tiny useless OFT tablet graphic. My next move is to call sometime tomorrow, but i'll sleep better knowing my tablet isnt ruined....or my car for that matter. i tried unplugging/plugging in several times and its always the same.."read" & "write" are grey and wont do anything. Any help will be appreciated.
BTW Ive tuned my last two trucks so im not a total noob but i feel ive f'd up here

Are you sure there is a tune loaded onto the oft? I asked for mine to be preloaded and assumed it was. After reading my stock rom, I thought I was all ready to write a tune to the car, but write was also greyed out on mine. Called shiv and he emailed me the right tunes, loaded them on and then was able to write a tune to my car.

B. Go to oft web site download latests tunes upload to oft and you will be good. See oft tips link below.

Read is greyed out as your stock tune read into tablet successfully

Write is grey as tablet did not have your tune calid onboard will need to be manually downloaded

If its a 2017 you will need to talk to oft guys for tunes otherwise just download

It's blank. Which sux BC I got OFT so I wouldn't have to do this. Btw, I bought new from ft86 speed factory...might be why it's blank.
