No car intro is complete without power metal and a killer fuckin guitar solo.

I'm waiting eagerly for the dubstep now.

I used to think the same thing. Then a friend stored his '91 Miata in my garage for the winter awhile back, and I would take it out for drives every few weeks. I'm 6'1" and 250 lbs, and I fit fine in my '90 Miata that I've owned for 8+ years with a few minor modifications, although my '99 Miata is kinda tight. I fit even better in the 3rd generation NC Miata, and I hope the ND is just as roomy. I have a friend who is around 6'7" who owns a Miata and loves it.

I "fit" in an NA. No chance on the NB when I went and looked at a Mazdaspeed. NC is tight but I could do it if I really wanted to. Not extremely comfortable though.

I am probably wrong, but I'd love a turbo.

I also would expect it to be better than the FRS/BRZ. Why wouldn't it be? It's a newer car.
I'm skeptical on two engine choices, they currently don't offer a turbo Sky-Activ G, I'll be surprised if the first application is on a niche budget sports car (lookin at you Toyobaru), they don't really have the weight (financially) to gamble on it...

I'd put money on the Sky-Activ D before a turbo Sky-Activ G engine the more I think on it, would also explain the delay from rumors that it would unveil earlier this year (or the year before that or the year before that)...

Define 'better'
Practical? Hell no
Gadgets and amenities? I expect a fully loaded model on par with a BRZ but not better at a similar or higher price point
Performance? I'll be surpised if it's noticeably faster than a Toyobaru, maybe a tick ahead at best
Fun to drive? Subjective, but that's the name of Mazda's game, zoom-zoom

Just a wild guess. They've already confirmed a Mazdaspeed3 for 2016, so they're very likely working on a turbo skyactiv.

By better I just meant performance, since that's generally the go-to benchmark for a sports car. Mazda knows what they're up against and for a long while they were the only player in town. Now they have to up their game. They offer two engines in Europe, so no reason they couldn't do it here.

Don't tell me things like this. You see, the only excuse I have when asked why I never considered a Miata (I actually love Mazda's, had a RX8 before my FRS) is that I couldn't fit. Now you've gone and ruined everything. lol

Seriously I like Miata's but if I was going to buy a roadster I think I would just buy a used S2000 AP2.

Interior wise, the NA and NB are identical, so you'll "fit" in either car. Might have been the NA seats were well worn, which is extremely common that the bolsters wear out leaving the seats flat and unsupportive.

Also, where the hell is the reveal? It's well after the time...

Now that they're showing it, it reminds me of a smaller F Type. I think it's gorgeous.
