None of these renders/pics are official until it has that new wing on the rear trunk!
Toyota never released Official PR pics of the car without a wing back in 2011

I can not wrap my head around how people (not directed at you there Jao but so many here) do not seem to get that Scion never designed or built a single car ever. It was just a marketing tool in the US (and Canada for a few short years). All Scion models except the tC were sold around the world badged as Toyotas so the simple change of badge here does not mean they are changing anything else on the car. Hell the iA was never a Scion and has always been a Yaris in Canada. Maybe it is the simple fact that North Americans seem to think the world starts and ends with us that has created this thought process. My point is that the face lift has nothing to do with making it look more like a Toyota since it already did and the rebadge means nothing in the big picture as there are already tens of thousands of these cars that were always badged as such.

They should have photoshopped the wheels. Arguably the ugliest part of the entire car.

I remember reading that article a few weeks ago at a Japanese bookstore but seeing it now makes me skeptical about a few things. First, they themselves mention that the nur spec aero was just released in Japan, and yet they claim this model update will be released this year, only a few months after the release of incompatible aero. I guess it's possible but i think that's a pretty dumb move. Next, the article claims only the manual tranny will get a 5ps 0.7kg/m horsepower and torque upgrade. I am so skeptical of any kind of power increase claims, although 5ps is a negligible difference anyway. They claim it will make an appearance at the Geneva show but they already got that wrong for sure.

That said, from a marketing perspective, I believe that the rims were chosen cause they are passable with all the colors. Cheaper and easier to provide one type and color of rim to all. You can bet the marketing boys ran tests to make sure the general public could live with them

I also love the stock Primacys. If only they weren't so expensive compared to other choices out there.. |

Nah, it's not just a Canadian thing. I have to admit I like the stockers on my Steel. I have seen a lot of other nice wheels, obviously, and I've thought about "upgrading", but nowhere near the top of my priority list right now. Different tires when the Primacys wear out, yeah, but will probably keep the stock wheels for a while.
