But the problem is, it's not even a CF hood..

A true CF hood will set you back several thousand.

Seibon and any other "CF" hood under $1k are all fiberglass w/ CF overlay.

Your post was somewhat unclear but I get your meaning. Still Seibon offers both dry and wet carbon products. The price differential is significant (as you noted).

Importantly though even a wet carbon hood (that may be a pound greater or less than the OEM hood) offers the advantage of vents and/or scoops which can make one worthwhile.

I'd like to see the rib structure under the hood. And I'd like to see a hood that has a rib structure that accounts for vents or scoops, not OEM replicas with sections of the rib cut out.

Most aftermarket, mass-produced fiberglass/CF hoods take the OE hood and mold it, down to the crumple zone dimples in the stock hood rib. This is just how people are when it comes to being cheap.

For that price I'd rather cut into a stock hood and install vents. Much safer.

Not only that, but a friend of mine has had a CF hood for under a year on his car. Believe it's a Seibon and his has 3 cracks in the clear coat at least, not sure if it when any further than that. In addition to that, he's getting the run around from the vendor he bought it from and from Seibon. Vendor says to talk to Seibon, Seibon says to talk to vendor.

For what you pay for these hoods, it's so not worth it given the exchange rate and the seeming total lack of QC.

But you must sell them, only to buy them back later, when you finally decide to get a different vehicle lol
