Normally yes you would expect allocations until well into the summer. They stopped taking orders a month ago so that does not bode well for a long production run for the 22s.

Toyota dealers should continue to receive new allocations throughout the year, but most have a queue of people who already put a deposit down. Assuming you get into a queue, unless you get lucky and everyone ahead of you has specific preferences that the dealer keeps missing on (and you are happy with whatever that is) you could end up empty handed for the year.

You'll want to understand from the dealer where in line you might be once you put down a deposit, and maybe even who is asking for what ahead of you. For example, if there are 3 people in line ahead of you that want Neptune, and you're dead set on Neptune, you might not be likely to get the car from that dealer this year considering the very limited number of cars any given dealer will receive. Maybe find another dealer.

If I had any idea how this all worked back in December, I would have put down two or three deposits, each with a dealer in a different region to maximize the likelihood that I'd get my preference matched. It's probably too late to try that now, at least where I am and not wanting to cross half the country/make it a part-time job to find a car.

I've been on the lists since October last year at several msrp dealers. Seems like they just haven't gotten any Neptune 6mt base cars unfortunately

I had a chance to put a deposit on a 6MT Base Neptune with a specific VIN in December at MSRP from a dealership with no "queue".
I passed as I was confident there will be a Premium on the market soon.
I personally know the person who bought that very car, and he only found out about it a couple of weeks after me, not 5 minutes.

I've since been offered multiple other 6MT Base Neptunes at other dealers at MSRP.
I'm convinced that only the Premiums are unicorns.

Do you have deposit with any? This might be key for Toyota actually allocating that car to the dealer, is my understanding, as it sort of validates a preference request.

But none of that matters when the dealer doesn't get anything at all like they have been - to your point.

It's different everywhere, but yeah seems premiums are much less common. In my 400mi radius I'd say its 70/30 base/premium. Even worse is the almost 90/10 AT/MT I'm seeing. I originally thought that it was just MT cars are snapped up and gone, but now I understand that a majority of Toyota dealer sites show all inventory in their pipeline until actually sold. Which means the MTs just aren't there. Hopefully production has been AT front-loaded or something :nervous:

In Nebraska I haven’t seen 1 base available or not out of the 15 cars that I knew of. Would have been nice to have base options

I know I come across as being harsh on this subject but people just need to be patent and understand that we are currently not even close to a normal car market.
This whole "it was a plot to rip us off", The dealers are treating people like shit" and "they OWE us something" (paraphrased) crap just comes across like a bunch of whinny snowflakes that have no clue how the real world works.

Yes the delays suck and so sad some missed out on a $500 incentive but at least everybody isn't paying a premium like people are on loads of other cars.
Just like that, dealer tells me my car's here tomorrow. lol.

Delays aside, were incentives discussed when the orders were placed? I was offered the better of incentives available when I ordered my car and when it was delivered. They ended up besting their promo finance rate by 1/2 a point. They also beat my pre-approved preferred customer rate through my own bank by 1 1/2 points.

CONGRATS!
This is a perfect demonstration of just how confused the system is right now.
It's coming.
Oh wait no it isn't
On it's way be a few weeks yet.
Never mind it is still not on it's way.
Maybe next month.
It will be here tomorrow.

Not the dealers fault since they are in the dark as much as anybody.

See you just need to wait and not panic.
Predictability is something we need to let go of for a while.
