I swear, some people just don't have the foresight to see that a license plate is a sharp-edged metal plate that can easily slice through the jugular in a crash.
Especially those that put it right on top of the passenger side dash airbag.

The front plate (North America) seems to impede with the intake airflow, especially when you have an aftermarket CAI like Perrin.

Yep by a whopping 2% if mounted properly. The impact is so small that it is meaningless in anything other than mathematical exercises.

In IL it's required... I don't drive with one on. I don't think police can actually pull you over since it's not a traffic violation. It's more like an add on ticket if you get pulled over for speeding or blowing a red light and they notice that you don't have a plate they will add that ticket on too. I could be wrong though. But I've driven right behind police officers in Chicago with no front plate for blocks and they don't do anything about it. I guess it depends on how strict the officer/police is in your area.

If it is a law it is a law and they could indeed pull you over just for that. Probably not worth their while though so they just tack it on if they grab you for other things.

If I were in a state that required it I would put one with a tow hook mount... What's the big deal about it? It's just one less reason to attract police attention.

In Maryland it's a primary offense now, meaning they can pull you over for it. It used to be a secondary offense and they could only cite you for it if you were first pulled over for a primary offense.

Agreed, and that's what I do. I wasn't about to put holes in my bumper.

Dude, if it’s a primary offense don’t get how I see so many cars without a front license plate it’s crazy. Get this, there’s even cars I see daily that have the front brackets mounted but no license plate.

Do cops not care anymore to pull you over?!

I've been driving illegally over the speed limit for about 20 years now. Would that be an issue?

I've never ran front plates on any of my cars. I had a 240sx back in the day with full aero that was pretty low and I did get hassled a lot (state ref tickets, no plate tickets, etc etc)

I took it as it was: I willingly broke the law. I paid my fine and moved on.

I've owned my BRZ for a little over a year now and it does not have a front plate. I'm lowered on coils and I do have aftermarket wheels, but exterior is pretty stock aside from a few stickers. I've never had any issues with the police, and have not been pulled over in the car.

My 240sx was loud and obnoxious so I can understand why I was pulled over. My BRZ is more sensible and still quite OEM looking.

I think it mainly boils down to how much attention you are attracting to yourself, and if you're driving like an idiot.

I drove for close to 30 years with no front plate on any of my cars. I never got pulled over, but my wife did once. My brother is a cop and I just had him sign it off.

I have them on all the cars now except the old 911. I have never had one on the old 911, in fact, I don't even think I have one. If I do, I don't have a clue where it is. I guess if I get a fix-it in that car I will have to order new plates, or just have by brother sign it off.
