Lower but not make it stiffer?
I’m on stock suspension and was wondering if it’s possible to lower the car but not make it stiffer than stock suspension?

no.
the cars already almost riding on the bump stops from the factory. any lower just means you bang off the bump stops faster, which leads to a harsher ride no matter what spring rate you pick.

It's going to get stiffer, but with a quality setup it won't ruin your back.

RCE yellows are noticeably stiffer. They do come with shorter bump stops, though.

Stiffer springs are pretty much a must.
Softer/better dampers are possible. Even with a reasonable budget, some set ups will be better over certain types of bumps (maybe even most bumps) and slightly worse over other bumps. - Andrew |

honestly it's really not that bad. I remember thinking "wow this is just like OEM". Mind you it depends on the settings and it is worse over *some* bumps and it does tend to get worse as the car ages, but it's very very livable

Thanks. I know it’s subjective but will the ride be significantly stiffer compared to stock springs? I’m pretty happy with my factory shocks and springs, but was thinking if it’s worth thinking of lowering the car. Also these seems to be out of stock on your website and few others I checked. Is there a general shortage at the moment? As probability with everything else these days.

In general, a full coilover is going to allow you to change the ride height without killing your suspension travel. Lowering springs reduce suspension travel to lower the car whereas coilovers shortent the strut body to do the same thing on some models/brands.
If you do go with some of the more expensive options, you can actually get the car to ride better than stock and even opt for soft springs. More or less, you can tailor the suspension to fit what you need it to do. I never liked lowering spring on cars. I ran 2-3 different sets on my WRX and you hit the bump stops on hard corners. Ride was never really great on any of them either.
