I checked around and quotes were in that ballpark. The only way to save more $$$ would be to buy the parts and do the install myself, which I was planning to do if it hadn't exploded on me. If I had gone with the Exedy OEM spec clutch, flywheel, TOB and other parts, the cost would have been close to $1000. With the dealership, it's OEM parts and also a warranty if something goes south.

Remove wiper arms.

Remove side covers. Those are a bit tricky. I could post a video clip of the motion.

The clips with the square covers are deceptive. Spin the bottom part from underneath to orient the sides that need to be squeezed. Squeeze the ears while gently lifting. They stay with the cowl.

Separate the sprayer hose at the barrel connector.

If you have the Grimmspeed hood struts, the driver's side mount should be moved out of the way. It can still hold up the hood.

I was super careful the first time but once I learned the moves, especially on those side covers, it's cake.

I’d plan on replacing the quill if it is that bad.

Haha... I almost broke mine trying to pull that clip in the orientation shown. It actually pushes straight down. SMH

What did I do to my FRS today?

I installed a no-name billet aluminum master cylinder brace...

You have to really stand on the brakes, but there is a noticeable difference!

Thanks for the advise @whataboutbob

well, been a while, had to find my login info, hehe.

Found and installed a Gruppe-S UEL header, and got a Wayne Watson Stg 2 tune. I knew it would be a bit better, but damn, this thing really woke up!! Of course, more power would be welcome still, but its not bad now. Smooth power, nice torque, pulls evenly all around.

The sound is also nice. I'm not sure why people want it louder than this for an actual daily driven street car anyway. Its nice. Sounds good and like something is going on, but in no way objectionable, or obnoxious.

The car should come like this from the factory.

Installed the brake light lowering kit from SKR the other day. Really well-thought-out kit, very simple install, and (to me) dramatically improves the look of the rear deck. Also took the opportunity to line the deck with MLV for some sound deadening, and I'm quite pleased with the results, for ~2lb of added weight. Forgot to take pics of the finished product because I'm a dummy.

Oh, and some more vinyl HP.

That’s my main worry switching to wider gripper tyres / wheels
