No.

The WRX has 268hp from the turbo variant of the FA20. Again, assuming there is even a shred of truth here, they would likely be working with the WRX motor, but they would have to re-pipe the turbo and make other changes to fit the current engine bay. If it comes out to be 255 or less, they probably did so for marketing purposes to create some division between Supra and 86. If they detuned it lower still and left it up to the aftermarket to find more power, I wouldn't be surprised.

As always, info is incredibly suspect. Also, anyone could make these assumptions based on normal release cadences of automakers. Also, they reference the "leaked" dealer presentation slide that has been floating around for awhile now. So yea...
Yeah there is nothing to substantiate the claim. As you said that photo has been around for a while and shows nothing more than the planned launch month. The power figures and details are just copy/pasted from the Motor1 article. Same ol' same ol'.

If the new one is named the GR86, will we pronounce that "Great-Six"?

Yea, but the reason I didn't roll my eyes as much is that it is one of the less ridiculous rumors we have heard. We reached a point where it was just going to be an coupe version of the WRX/STI with a hybrid with a bent towards rally-fighting. Instead we are back to "yea, more or less the same design philosophy but a little faster and nicer inside" is refreshing. I think we should make that our expectations and just cross our fingers that it remains light and not much more expensive.

I saw someone online a while ago that called it "Great-Sex", and now I cringe every time I see it

But what I'm saying is this is literally lifted from the Feb Motor 1 article, and that wasn't substantial either. The only info that had any merit was the release date. Their source never mentioned power numbers or interior improvements, they tacked that on. A quote from the original Motor 1 article:

Quote:
First up, the second-generation 86 that has been confirmed by Toyota and Subaru as another sports car tie-up is reportedly scheduled to come out in July 2021 and go on sale as a 2022MY. That’s all the info he has on the rear-wheel-drive coupe, but the latest intel suggests it’ll be sold as a “GR 86” with around 255 turbocharged horses and an improved interior with better materials.
As much as I want to believe nice things, the info Ichi and the Lexus guy from the supra forum received holds more weight if we're going off rumors IMO.
