There was a guy who wrote a whole report that basically said if Americans would buy used cars and keep for as long as possible, and then take the payment and save in a retirement account, they could retire early. So Americans are working forever to pay for their new shiny cars. Nothing wrong with living for now, but then you can’t complain when you are a victim of your own decisions. Which Americans are very good at.

True. Well I do know that Carvana, Carmax, etc also tend to buy the better used cars. There's a saying in that business that it isn't how you sell the cars, it's how you buy the cars, and those companies are strangling the buying market. That in turn puts better cars on the lot, allows them to put better guarantees and such, and hence why they can list it at a higher or market price and not have to haggle to move cars.

As far as Americans not saving, yeah totally, although there is something to be said about having a car that constantly needs something every couple of months. Frankly, everyone should just buy a Prius and live financially responsibly. My version of that was buying a 35+mpg Miata and telling myself I need to stick with this car (I have this tendency of flipping cars, granted I always bought used so I actually broke even).

like Tcoat said it's supply vs demand
whoever needs it first, it loses game.
as long as you're not hurry to buy a car, then you'll get close $ that you want (unless ridiculous $$ you wanted to pay)

ever since 911 incident, everything has been tough.
my generation is having difficulty (i am old guy born in 80s) to stay in mid-to top tier living life
i imagine 90~00 generation will have more tough time
college is not the answer these days at all

unless you marry, you can stay in coupe for forever but once you have family, all will be changed.
gladly, i still have my BRZ and my 6 years old daughter grown up with my car so she loves it too

anyway, i talked to much and make long story short
Learn in smart ways with fast pace and work hard and $$$ will follow you
do everything in right way not the easy way

WTF am i saying in car forum now? lol

I think ADM's will be more dependent on current inventory levels across all car lines. Right now inventory levels for Subaru are at historic lows and will likely be in that same position or close to it by the time BRZ hits showroom floors, so I'd expect at least some stores to throw an ADM on just because all of their cars have them, not because it's the hot new thing. If inventory levels do increase, then yeah we'll be less likely to see markups but I'm sure a few dealers will still do small ones on unsold first allocation cars.

There are alot of things that can mean you don't save money. Cars are one but some things are hard or impossible to control. My second divorce on 06 left me penniless. Hard to recover after losing everything you worked thirty years for. MY 86 is not an expense I can justify but sometimes you just want a little fun.

Jesus christ, stories like these never stop.

I give my head a damn good shake every time guys lose their lives going through the heavily biased family court system and yet they STILL KEEP GOING BACK FOR 2nds AND 3rds!!!

I wish more younger men would take the red pill and give MGTOW a real chance...

...say what you will, this stuff actually works and the things which, at the back of your mind you always knew to be true, you'll find millions of other men across the globe find to be real as well.

Interesting situation:
1. you have a car that's bring produced in low numbers (because anything that's not boring/hybrid/4 doors/or utility doesn't sell in North America)
2. two manufacturers that do not specifically advertise them nor acknowledge their existence in ads with the rest of the line up.
3. Only fans of the previous generation know/care about them the upcoming 2nd gen and we no longer have SCION's pure pricing.
4. Nissan is doing a better job stirring the pot of public interest with the new Z. I have to admit if it weren't for Nissan's QA issues I'd seriously would consider one.

I think they'll be a mark up with the shortages and its newness hopefully that will die soon and will be able to get a better price.

They were supposed to start delivering in "late Summer 2021". Being pushed back to Fall is gonna kill sales for the first 6 months in large parts of the country. During that time lots of cars will be shipped from northern dealers to southern dealers where demand is strong because it's new.
