Either way I am happy if that's the case. More resale value it nice to sit on. I wonder if that effects insurance payouts.
The insurance payments will not be impacted unless book values go way way up.
Most that I saw were private sales so doubt there is much price manipulation going on.
Yep the asking price is probably rarely the selling price (especially private sales) but even if they are selling for 10% or 20% less the prices are still up. Not huge but up.

Imo, waiting for a Type R isn't going to do you any good. This gen CTR will rust with its hype. If you find a deal you are okay with and can afford, I'd say go for it, or wait 2 more years and get into a gen 11.

FK8 is going to be a hype lord until it is obsolete.

So happy I purchased my 2018 STI w/40k km off lease in Jan. I think it has 41k km on it now and is sitting in the garage.
I could sell it today and do pretty well, but that would leave me hunting around for a winter car and it too will be more expensive and I wont know the actual service history. Plus the next logical step for me would be BMW or Audi performance models and I might regret it afterward since I am not a huge Euro car fan otherwise I'd probably already be driving one. I might be the only person that likes the mega-grill on the 4 series.

I think you'd regret it if the next STi turns out to actually be good, but expectations are quite low for that car from me right now.

Not really, the reason I purchased it was so I could trade it back if/when the new model arrives in the Fall of 2022. Otherwise, if I am not excited about the change I will keep what I have. If I had just walked away at the end of the lease I would have needed to lock into another car which would prevent me from getting a 2022 STI.

the up in used car price definitely got me thinking of selling my 2019 TRD SE, only 2.2kmiles at the moment (weekend car). I got it out the door $28300, carvana is selling a 10k miles for 34k at the moment.

I don't care how much I can get for mine.
I'm keeping it.

Yeah it is but I love my frs a lot. Lots of memories in it. Def can’t find a clean, stock, low mileage, desirable sports car for $18-$20k afterwards

It’s crazy that they’re offering $18-20k for 2013 models. Financially it make sense to sell but there’s nothing I’d want to replace mine with other than maybe a next gen model. S2000 and nd2 feel like lateral moves at best vs my FRS as it sits. Already owned a 987.2 Boxster S and not sure I want to go back. 997 Carrera S seems like it’d be too heavy and filtered for how I use the car. The only car that really appeals to me at the moment is the Elise/Exige, but seems like a big trade off in practicality and build quality.
