They also said that either the USDM or JDM K24A2 would work the same, just in case anyone wonders.

I got the rest of the components off the car including the headers, supercharger radiator, and other components that will be sold or is part of my kit. I tried to get the driveshaft off, but the diff/shaft bolts are being a real bitch. I sprayed it with penetrating lubricant. Hopefully that works. Getting all the bolts off of the engine isn't easy like there are literally a million bolts on the timing chain cover, and I still feel like it doesn't want to come off. Same with the oil pan; that glue is legit. All accessories are off, and I removed the valve covers, so it is just the long block that needs disassembly, but I bet it will take some time. Surprisingly, the initial glance at the cams seemed to show little sign of wear and damage. They are toast because of oil contamination, but still looking somewhat normal.

I have to go to hazmat dump tomorrow to get rid of the coolant/oil mix, and then I plan to remove the transmission for easier access the the block. I might get an engine hoist and engine stand tomorrow too.
I hate to get enjoyment out of someone else's troubles, but ...

I'm really looking forward to riding along your journey through K-swap land. If it works as well as I hope it does, there's small chance I'll do it and leave the car NA. Losing 100 pounds off the front axle, over 200whp, with a bulletproof engine. What's not to like.

Stock. How deep are your pockets?

Any engine can be built to be a beast. I'm going with a cheaper route. In hindsight, if the Kpower K-swap was available back in the day then I may have considered it sooner or before going with the supercharger, but it wasn't. A built motor would have been wise too, but I feel like the reliability with a built motor isn't great, even at the power I was at, and most likely, power would go up, and maybe I am mistaken, but reliability at 450whp with a built engine seems to be on par with the reliability at 350whp with a stock engine, which is to say, iffy.

There are piston and rod K24's making 700whp, which would likely require sleeves/closed deck/full build on the FA20, and even then, I don't know if the reliability would be the same. This means the reliability at 450whp or something on a basic build will be better. The K24 typically will do 450whp on stock internals, but some push more out of it. If it breaks then $750 for a new engine, and parts are cheap.

If you feel comfortable vlogging you could document it on YouTube and setup a Patreon. I’ve been following someone doing a Subaru EZ swap into an aircooled Porsche pretty religiously and he’s gotten some sponsors out of it

if i would have known i was going to blow my engine before my supercharger arrived, i probably would have kswapped it since it probably comes out to about the same. but yeah i have empty pockets now

I do have a Youtube, but it was never meant to make money. I post basic videos with basic updates like once or twice a year updates. Also, there are far too many build videos and how-to's on Youtube for Kswaps and stuff. It would just be white noise, and I do have the patience or time to make a decent video blog with everything. I rarely like to even take pictures, nor do I have any other social media, except this and Youtube.

Sell the charger and go back to NA. If you can't do the engine swap it's a no brained. NA+e85 is still a great combo in this car

Ops should have read the whole thread. What do you think the cost of the kswap will be?

Will that actually be a thing? An EV motor?

Not specifically for the 86, but yes, several companies are working on it including, believe it or not, GM.

Oh, well yea. Thought you meant some companies were working on a crate EV motor for the 86 platform.
