That sounds eerily similar to what happened to my original engine. Cruising along the interstate, felt a small buck and instantly lost the motor. All I could find was maybe I either had a spot of bad gas or the DI clogged and ran lean causing a single large misfire. Sorry to see your engine go buddy. Were you running E85 or normal at the time?

Keep us informed. I am on the fence with building an FA, but still concerned of their issues, or going with a K swap.

Mine started while using E85 from Louisiana and finally detonated a week later on the same fuel. In between, I put some Lucas Upper Cylinder and Fuel Treatment in there and it stopped my issues. I know I was a dumbass for putting that fuel back in my car without the treatment again.

I just got off the phone with Will from KPower Industries, and he was very helpful. He answered all my questions on the swap, and he said they will hopefully be taking preorders within the next few months for a mid-summer release a month later, assuming no problems. He said there will be a large preorder list because there is a lot of interest, which I am not surprised.

I will most likely be going this route, depending on if they follow through on time. I have nursing school starting in August, but I have a motorcycle, bicycle, wife's Q5 and Uber/Lift to get me through things.

I will break down the engine today and see how bad the damage is.

I know, right. It is a right of passage.

I'm leaning to do a K24 NA with E85 potentially, and then get through nursing school, and then pull the motor and build it up for boost. If I was considering a FA motor then it would be a FA24 swap, but used motors are not on the market, and I frankly prefer the K24, even though D4S is nice too.

K20C1 with a custom intake manifold to add port injectors.

At the moment, I suspect you do.

Edit: Actually, I'm being a jerk. Sorry the engine let go. It's funny (not your situation, but the twisted reality) you can extract a lot of horsepower from these things, but like having one's cake and also eating it, you can't use it. I know next to nothing about quantum mechanics but I vaguely remember some property of particles that observing them makes them unfindable. (somebody help me here). In our case the engine can make a whole lot of power, but if you explore that power, the engine vanishes.

I am now convinced that the stock engine is just fast enough for this old man.
