Never mind if some people think the Toybaru should always be harsh and noisy.

In order to keep down cost, the Toybaru is a 90% completed car at factory gate. The factory makes it amenable to modification to suit the specific requirement of end-users for the finishing touch.

Some want to make it harsher, louder, (but usually not much faster); some want to make it more civilised for long-distance driving. Can't fault anyone for his own preference.

Even Toybaru has made changes over the years and trim levels.
Everybody talks like to 2013 FRS was the only version ever made. Yes, they were a bit more "harsh" than even the BRZs at the time but they were built to a very base level with Pure Pricing in mind. The higher trim BRZs were a little more "civilized" right from the start.
When Scion died and the North American market became Toyotas they finally offered a higher trim which was noticeably different from the bare bones FRS. Things such as improved soundproofing, firming things up and a bit less lively suspension all went a long way in calming the 17+ 86s down a bit.
Having owned both a 2014 FRS and a 2020 Hakone I will 100% guarantee that there is a considerable difference in the maturity of the cars.

That perfectly matches MomHawk and I except she drives a 2005 Mustang Convertible so thinks my twin is almost whisper quiet compared to hers!

We take the 86 on road trips all the time, did a 500 mile trip just this past weekend for our granddaughter's 4th birthday party.

One thing that helped a bit is I after the first set of tires wore out I swapped them for a touring tire. This helped some. On my second set of the Ecopia but will be getting new tires soon and may go with something else.

No one cares about the 17+ cars....
The 2013 cars are the REAL OG twins!, the TRUE twin driving experience, raw to the bone!

And that is most likely any and all twin owners got this car when it first came out and held onto it until they either broke it and/or was time to move on to something else.
Us late bloomers with the 17+ cars got in the game late when the hype around this car faded and cars started needing "MOAR POWERS!!!" as the primary vehicle requirement.

Yeah, I think going to a 16" wheel and tire combo will do more than enough to make it more comfortable for her. Anything more than that and it probably just makes more sense to continue to use the Pilot for things like this.

Get a center armrest if you don't already have one. Probably my favorite interior comfort mod.

I hear the stock GR86/BRZ suspension is the most comfortable setup yet, and potentially fits all years. If my goal was comfort, I would do that spring/shock setup + a Mann Engineering 13mm rear sway bar.

I wanted to get an armrest at some point but found that resting my arm on the ebrake worked pretty good in that regard.

I've got two different ones and haven't settled on which I like better at this point.

You think it works until you install an actual armrest and realize how much better it is!

Yeah i still kinda want to get one.
I kind of want my center console to be covered, if even if it only gets partially caovered. (obviously i would go for the sliding armrest)

I have a carsmo armrest which is now being reproduced by these guys. I like that it sits in snuggly with pressure and doesn't require screws.

I pulled it off when I had a short shifter installed and put it back when I took it off. Worth the money.
