I have a TDR too and LOVE the sound of it. Nice deep tone and no raspiness. It`s a bit expensive, but I also added it to the price of the car so I`m fine with it. My old car had a custom exhaust and it was pretty loud, even though it had a res and a muffler. This one you barely hear much of a difference in loudness, just in tone more then anything. It just sounds really good and I hear a bit of Subie rumble when driving in town(2000 to 4000 rpm).

The car now feels like a beast when going from 4th to 5th then 6th gear!! Wee doggie!!!
I got mine online for $940 with no tax and free shipping. Install was $60. I could have done it myself but do not trust jack stands.

Definitely a bit throatier and more aggressive sounding than stock. Cold starts it sounds great. It's fairly quiet while you're cruising, and you can drive around town without being annoying. Sounds great when you're WOT, and makes a very satisfying little growl when you put the clutch in. If you want an exhaust without dealing with warranty hassles down the road, it's a good buy imo.
edit: the back-end of this car looks like it was styled for the TRD exhaust. Fits/looks much better than stock. |

TRD Exhaust is so nice.
I was definitely hesitant to get it at first because I thought I might get sick of it, but I think it has been worth the price I paid so far. I really like the low noise it makes, and it doesn't make too loud of a sound that I can still listen to podcasts and music without having to turn my volume too high up. This is stupid, but I also like how the exhaust tips look. Round tips are just too common. |

I think it sounds/looks pretty nice.
My girlfriend has tC and the previous owner installed TRD exhaust. It's got a decent gurgle and sounds pretty nice. |

I'd have to agree with most of these replies about sound and looks. I did install the exhaust after about 400mi. (was ordered with the purchase but took a few weeks to get it in and time to install). I never really felt what the car had performance wise before the install since I was doing my best to keep it <4k. I think it was designed mostly for the sound and look.
It has a nice rich deep idle sound, really livens up when you get on it, but is totally absent when cruising down the highway. Keeps the boxer growl that sounds so nice. Videos online I don't think will ever give any exhaust true justice, with all the variables in mic and speaker combos. Whether there's a performance gain or not is not really important to me since its a DD, just love the sound as I row through the gears. Plus there's no mistaking which exhaust it is, the D really separates it from all the round tipped designs.

I'm a fan! TRD Catback and TRD Cold Air Intake, best purchases I have made (besides the car itself) in the past year.

I have the TRD exhaust, got it installed about 2 weeks after I bought the car. I sounds much better, much more sports-car like than stock. I think it it may have slightly better performance. Looks so much better too. It is a little louder than stock, but in a nice way. I am not sure, but I think that after I took a long road trip, about 1000 miles RT, it seemed to quiet down and was not as raspy as initially, although it was never bad. It now seems smoother and deeper sounding. It is pricey, but I do like it. I included it in the purchase price of the car through the dealer.
I would highly recommend it. Sounds great without being offensive. |
