i've also got a ticket on my record for having a blue license plate light--i had 2 external mods on that car, the blue plate lights, and blue tire valve caps...(and i got that ticket while calmly driving an older co-worker home at the end of the day, so no schenanagins to even give the cop a reason to pull me over), where now literally everyone with a walmart gift card is throwing red/blue lights everywhere on their cars, and nothing is done about it.

that depends on the state. Some states red or blue lights are totally illegal in every situation on the outside of personal vehicles unless you are police/Emergency. Some states don't seem to care at all, which is kind of scary.

it was in illinois. illinois and indiana have the same laws regarding red/blue/green/yellow lighting.

the new fad lately has been for people to start putting wheel well lighting or underglow on new cars...

Definitely drive it stock for a while before modding it IMO. One you get to know the car and what you want, then buy good quality parts and do your research. Budget also comes into play.

But as others have said, it isn’t a muscle car or turbocharged hot hatch, if straight line performance is what you really want and winning a traffic light Grand Prix. You’re better off looking at a different car.

I second this. Mods are sooo much more satisfying when you're really familiar with the stock part, and you feel what a difference it makes. If you slap mods on it right away, it just feels like it was always that way, and you miss out on that "whoah!" feeling that's so, so good.

Hi Guys, Back again after a long break from forums. I just paid off my FRS so now (hopefully) I can afford to do some mods. I was thinking on a super charger or engine swap to get the HP up but after reading this thread I'm kind of changing my mind. For the most part I really like my FRS stock but there are times when I hit the gas to get around some slow poke and not much happens. So my question is this...How much am I going to feel a smaller increase in HP...or how much does a small increase in HP translate to feeling it when driving? I'm thinking exhaust and drop in filter and hose type increase...what would that be about 20-30HP? And to go with that...what exhaust should I be looking at for a not too loud and more classy rumble...I'm not a young guy like a lot of you so I don't really want to be the 50yr old driving down the freeway in a fart can sounding car a 16yr old would want. No offense to you younger peeps!

You still can downshift. Or just put it in SPORT mode.

Simple bolt on parts are not going to give you much HP. The best bang-4-buck power is: E85 +header + tune. You will feel it, but nothing like a turbo.

I am happy with the power my stock 2013 AT has after 7 years. I can pass when I want to.
