My wife's kind of the same way. The BRZ is rough, loud and raw feeling. I love it. She would much rather take our other car. I like to feel the connection to the road. She just wants to "get there".

I picked up gahooligan's kit since it turns out he lives about an hour away. Just need to get some new intake gaskets and I'll finally have some FI! I'll be running the smaller pulley with Ace CS400 header.

My impressions after about 300 km.
- definitely more torque especially on higher gears - fuel consumption a bit higher then before FI, average 10,7/100km - maybe its just me, but I think I can hear more supecharger whine when the oil temp reaches over 80 degrees Celsius - max. oil temp 105 degrees Celsius during highway drive with average speed 150km/h - more boxer rumble noise, i think - haven't pushed it hard yet, but have to try.

I put the larger fuel pump on yesterday. Prior to installing the pump, I noticed a very slight hesitation at wide open throttle under high gear. Probably was fuel starvation. The larger pump has fixed that. Now it's as smooth as can be.
I bought this pump: http://asnuusa.com/ASNU92-FP330E The Velox Fuel Starvation Door: http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/velo...l#.W3wWENJKhEY And a fuel pump install kit with wiring harness adapter and fuel sock: http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/dw-8...l#.W3wWbtJKhEY There is a good install video here: [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wc8goq7vXLI[/ame] The install was fairly simply and straight forward. Try to do this on an empty tank so you don't get fuel everywhere. The only problem I had was the video fails to mention that you need to make sure the flat gasket on the side of the fuel basket does not get pinched when reinstalling it. The gasket is a tight fit and can fold easily. If the gasket folds you will leak fuel everywhere. |

Small update after 500 km.
Some of you have mentioned about small gain of power at low rpms. I don't know how about you, but I have made a small trial today: 6th gear 100km/h (62mph) 2600rpm - 120km/h (74,6mph) 3100 rpm = 4,35 sek measured with iphone My oil temp reached 108'C (226'F) during highway speeding 170 - 180 km/h, but dropped very fast do 95'C during regular drive. Love this car even more now.

It may be my imagining things, but I think the car has more power when you let it learn the throttle calibration slowly. After resetting the previous CELs, the car would lose its throttle calibration and have very low power upon initial restart. I would perform the throttle calibration which involves pressing the accelerator fully for 30 seconds, 3 times with the engine off. It then seemed to need at least one drive to fully warm the engine. Then shut the engine off. Restart it, and the car would have it's power back.
The last time I had to reset the CEL, I didn't have time to do any of this stuff as I had to go to work. So I reset the light, got in and drove it. It was a dog getting to work. Timings were retarded and the engine felt underpowered. When I got back to my car that night, I did a quick throttle calibration before I left. The car felt MUCH more responsive. I think the ECU needs the slow learning process to dial everything in perfectly. I now realize I NEED new tires. It will slip in any gear on wet roads. As mentioned, this may all be in my head, it seems to perform better if you just get in it and drive it. Let the ECU learn on its own. As for the Check Engine Lights... The car now seem much more sensitive than before to not fully tightening the gas cap. If it's not COMPLETELY tight I will get a CEL. I drove the car for about 2 years before the supercharger and never got a CEL and I know I may have not fully tightened it in the past. But now I get them occasionally whenever I stop for gas and don't absolutely snug the cap back down. It would be nice to have that code deleted all together so it doesn't happen again... |

Just took the car for it's first real road trip. 6 hours one way and it was flawless. Interstate and back roads. Averaged 31mpg.
