Traded in the '18 STI today

...for a 2023 Volvo V60 Cross Country.

Thought it was time to have at least one comfortable car, plus when my 15 year old son starts driving in less than a year he will be able to use the automatic transmission.

Apparently my STI was very unusual in that it was 100% unmolested aside from a high quality tint. With 51,000 km on it, I am sure some enthusiast will get years of enjoyment from that car.

I had always admired the interior comfort of Volvos at car shows but never seriously considered getting one, but I still think wagons are cool, and somewhat uncommon which I like. Plus this one will handle rough roads if the need ever arises.

For now at least, the FR-S remains in the livery. I did enjoy the STI in the winters, but the Volvo should fit the bill nicely.

Good car? Bad car? Keep in mind I'm 58 years old, so the Volvo probably suits my maturity more than the STI does.

Metallic white w/ black leather and wood trim. Any car I don't plan to wash all the time on the exterior, I stick with white. It always looks clean even when it's dirty.

Cool. Please be aware that you will have to drive it across the country at some point in it's life. It's in the name, after all. Hope you like road trips.

Funny, that "crossed" my mind.

The original Volvo 5 door wagon 245 DL which was assembled in Halifax Nova Scotia in the 70's and 80's stayed in production for ~30 years and it was a solidly built car. Strange styling but extremely utilitarian. The door thunk was second only to big Mercedes of that era (eg 560 SEL). I associate those cars with professors, school teachers, pipe smoking sandal wearing liberals of the 70's. And Swedish women, of course!

Congrats! The V60 is a good looking car. It's pretty unfortunate that the "car" version was discontinued for the Cross Country though.

Also odd comment about your son. Do you have no intention of teaching him to drive stick? Or is he not interested? (sigh)

I don't plan to teach him stick unless he wants me to, which I doubt he will at this point. Plus where I live insurance can be quite astronomical for new drivers for several years, as in more than most kids make at a summer job, so I needed to be realistic. Maybe eventually if the FR-s is is still kicking around he can learn later on. He's the typical nerdy gamer, into sports especially basketball, only cars he ever cared for were his HotWheels ones when he was younger lol.
