valve spring issue?
The Teflon DI seals are not replaced according to the parts lists in this thread so far. The seals that go bad are SU003-00322. There is no need to touch the DI if you aren’t pulling the head.

Just figure, seems to be lots of people with what I was thinking was DI seals going out, so want to make sure to replace those while the car is apart. |

Yes, those are the DI seals everyone talks about. The recall will not require those to be removed so if you want them to replace them they are going to charge you. The seals are only $3 but they are easy to damage. I had no problems replacing mine but I used the tool referenced in the ND Miata manual rather than the FRS manual. It’s much easier to use than the Toyota tool. I only bought 4 seals and all 4 went on without drama and only took about 15mins. The techs at Toyota told me they went through 12 before they got the hang of it. |

I do have access to the Subaru tool. Probably some other stuff that would work as well. |

Cross post, but did it just to track the issue... I haven't received a letter yet from Toyota, but my local dealership just called me directly to schedule the work. Unfortunately I missed the call and am waiting for a callback now...curious what info will come out of this..

No just the seal install. The injectors were already out and cleaned up. 15mins was the time it took to remove the old seals and install new ones. If you read around here you will find people saying they destroyed a bunch of them and took hours to do (just the seals). I think the key to it being so easy for me was the Miata tool is way better than the Toyota/Subaru tool. It comes with a tool for placing the seal on the install tool which is where most people have a problem.
