Yes they are. There's measurable lash between the cam lobe and roller rocker. Cars that are too tight are throwing the p119f and p219a combo of codes, my 2017 suffers from that. ![]() The picture and instructions are a bit misleading, telling us to measure some valves on one bank, then rotating the engine to measure others, but we know from timing instructions that at certain positions, all 8 valves on a certain bank will be free. That may not be the position to accurately measure the lash, but it should suffice to remove components without stress. |

The rocker pivot also functions as a hydraulic lifter which takes up the slack but when the engine isn’t running there is a gap when in the zero lift zone. You can practically blow on the cam and it will turn when it’s in the zero lift zone. |

Just found that my car now falls in the recall range:
Looks like they should be adjusting the valve lash/etc when doing this, correct? Any idea how long they will warranty the work for on this one? Being my car is bone dry still, don't want to have the dealer work result in oil leaks in a year. Guess I will start looking for gaskets for my oil cooler and confirm if I need different gaskets for the header/over-pipe connection on my car vs stock(unless they plan to leave that connected Besides plugs, any other work that is good to do while they have the engine out? |

Safety Recall Campaign such as this has no age/mileage expiration. For those within the VIN range but have no problem/symptom, there's no rush to get it done. In fact, your powertrain warranty has now been extended indefinitely, to the coverage of this recall (timing/valve cover leak, valve train, certain gasket/seal, etc), and perhaps any consequential damage if it is related. Also, if you require parts like plugs/water pump to be replaced simultaneously, your service dealer should discount/waive the labor accordingly.

Maybe they will establish mobile teams to travel to dealerships and set up shop to do the recall work? ![]() humfrz |

These repairs aren't "large" enough that it would be effective to do so with a national team of dedicated techs. That would only be cost effective if they can schedule the cars to all be there at once(nearly impossible) and the dealer has space to add 2-3 more techs/vehicles in the shop. Instead Most dealerships will have the same tech do repairs like this vs all of their techs. My company does something like this. We only do it in certain cases and on a regional scale. We don't bring a tech from Texas to Work on something in Cali. Some of our locations will "borrow" the tech to come to their location for an item vs taking a big write-off for having someone do a major repair for the first time. But, this is the world where we have 100+ hour repairs. Last edited by ka-t_240; 12-27-2018 at 12:31 PM. |

Likely not, the US is too geographically large to have this happen. |

Has anyone here had the recall completed yet?
Son's car has an appointment on Monday morning but he goes back to school on Friday. Tuesday being a holiday means the dealer will have 3 days to complete. School is a 5 hour drive. I'm a bit nervous that they can complete the job before he needs the car back. |

This is one of those times you need to be very clear with what you say
![]() I'LL START- Are you saying you had the recall fix applied? How long did the service take? Engine removal necessary? |

Not sure if I missed it, but are direct injector seals on that list? If not, I will have to ask them to change those when they have the car apart.
