Best way to sell modified BRZ?

Due to some life changes, I need to sell my BRZ and buy something a little more functional. Like a Ford Focus.... RS.

I'm curious for suggestions on the best way to sell a modified car. Low miles (10K-ish), Vortech supercharger, AP-Racing brakes, Perrin exhaust, etc...

Around $12K worth of mods. But I know it's worse than worthless to a dealer as a trade-in. Are there certain forums or classifieds that would be more effective? Not looking to get back everything I put into it obviously, just wondering where people who would be interested in this car might be looking.

Thanks!

Part it and trade or try to sell here as a vehicle in the classifieds.

Do you have any of the original parts?

Try to put the car back to stock as much as possible and part out your mods in the Classifieds section.

List it here first, be patient probably about a month, list it for KBB and optimistically plus 50%-75% of the mawd value, maybe craigslist or whatever your preferred local selling site is.

If you can revert back to stock without significant cost to you, it shouldn't be difficult to sell the parts for ~75% of what you paid for them and get KBB for the car. Ideally in an honest world you'd be honest about what you've done to the car FI but you'll probably end up trading it into a dealer or something without telling them anything you've done and some guy is gonna get it used with boosted mileage on it. Fingers crossed it doesn't go wrong for them.

Echoing others - restore it to stock and sell your parts in the Classifieds here, local 86 group, the big 86/FRS/BRZ buy sell pages on Facebook, etc.

Try to sell it at private party first , some people might be interested in already mod one. If it doesn't work, part out. Why not new civic ? That is a pretty nice car

Post it up for sale here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...=93351&page=36

Or as others mentioned, return it to stock on sell the parts on there. Then sell it stock or trade it in. CarMax seems to give some of the best trade-in values here in Portland.

I'm local to you and might be interested in some of your parts.

^^^^ Almost word for word what I had planned to write. I would at least attempt to sell it complete before pulling all the parts. Their is a market for modded ones but you may have to wait for the right person. If in a hurry then strip 'er down and trade 'er in.

At least you won't have to take that horrible price beating you would get for a FRS since Scion is going (sic).

Thanks all, good suggestions. Returning to stock is probably more time/effort than I can afford given the life changes above (not to mention, some of the stock stuff may have been disposed of), but a few of the items (exhaust) could be done quickly and might help get a few more bucks out.

Once I get it detailed I'll try the usual routes (classifieds here and Craigslist) and see what happens..

Thanks!

also try autotrader so you can get national coverage. I had a modified IS300 and the buyer fly in from Texas to pick it up and drove it back because he loves what I had done to the car.

Yep! With modded/specialty cars the broader the market the more likely you are to find just the right guy for the mods.
