I think these should be an option for AT only, with Mt these are just distractions. |

Honestly, this is a sports car. It shouldn't have controls on the steering wheel.
I also prefer the look and shape of ours. That one seems bloated... Just like an STI

its a sports car that I primarily daily drive. I agree with the statement but I would love it did have the volume controls. My music and this car is bliss together.

Considering I drove mainly older cars up until now (classic Nissan/Hondas) not having controls seems normal to me.
While I'm sure the STI type wheel would be welcomed by many I'm leaning toward something smaller which still has an airbag. I see the Cusco wheel in my future. I'll say that it would have been nice for the twins to at least have the option of adding things to the wheel, even if it was just power and volume for the radio. It seems like a small trade off for some convenience that many people like. This isn't a 97 Type R which came with no AC or radio...we've got dual climate control, nav, auto power windows, heated seats/mirrors. Why would a few simple controls on the wheel have ruined anything?

Yuck, round steering wheels FTW. I love the stock steering wheel in our cars. I think they are perfect.
I actually have an aftermarket steering wheel in my other car and it has a flat bottom and I thought it was cool and all at first but now I freaking hate it. Just doesn't flow through my hands smoothly for daily driving. Going to change it out soon for a round one. |

The controls on the STI steering wheel are not very well thought out either, just useless clutter.
The first flat bottom steering wheel was real elegant and still the best imo: And this is how you do proper cruise control with steering wheel buttons: |

I never understood the fascination with steering wheel audio controls. My GTI has them and I never use them.
With both my FR-S and GTI, the volume and radio settings are on the dash, just a few inches away from my right hand. It doesn't bother me to have to move my hand a couple of inches to push a button. However, I do like a flat-bottom steering wheel. Adds a little more knee space and I find it slightly helps me keep track of the position of the wheel.

The Cusco is 350mm diameter if I remember, it's smaller than the stock one. I loved it, it was the perfect size and nice and thick. Probably the best steering wheel I've ever touched. The new STI one looks nice though, I wouldn't complain if I had it.

When I had steering wheel controls on another car, I never used them. I just want thick, small and flat . Is the Cusco one thicker than stock?

I don't see why it matters between AT and MT though, it's not like I'm changing songs while I'm shifting or that I'm shifting all that often. I generally just sit in 4th or 5th gear and tap my steering wheel angrily because the people in front of me are going below the posted speed limit on straight country roads. |
