any long legged FR-S owners out there?
Just putting feelers out there to see if there are any of us besides myself that have longer legs that might have the knee rubbing the steering wheel issue besides myself? So far it seems like it's just me...for perspective my inseam is 38/36 @ 6'4.5".

Mine is 36/36, and I'm 6'4". The steering wheel column does get in the way if I'm not moving my seat all the way to the back and all the way down. But doing so really restricts visibility cause of the low roof, can's see lights when siting 1st at an intersection.
I learned to move my foot only to reach the pedals rather than foot and leg, that helped a lot. Now I can see XD BTW, I have an AT, no clutch makes it easier. |

I'm 6'3" with a 36" inseam and I don't really have any issues with hitting my knees on anything. I keep the seat closer than I have on other cars in the past, and even with the manual tranny, I don't hit anything.
I do, on the other hand, hit my head on the headliner from time to time. I wish the seat went lower (I've already adjusted it down as far as the lever let's it go) Sent from...somewhere? |

yep, this is exactly the reason I won't buy a stick. angling your foot can give you cramps, but the beauty of it is you get use to it.....after a while. a long while. I was thinking about buying a racing seat w/ some lowering seat rails thinking that might eliminate the problem. however, that's a lot of time and money. I'm, hoping someone makes lowering seat rails for the stock seats, as I'm sure this problem will come up in the future for other tall guys who are long in the legs. visiting a fabrication shop is also an idea, but that seems like it might be expensive. too bad the seat can't go back any further, just lower (and it's not that low out of the factory, IMO- sit in a Porsche Boxster of 911- that's low). I went for a drive last night and actually paid attention to my knees. I've got a good 6 inches between my knees and the steering column. The wheel is tilted nearly all the way up, extended all the way. My seat is as low as it goes, reclined just slightly rearward, and it's slid back far enough that when I push the clutch down, my knee is still slightly bent.
Only thing I hit is the ceiling. Sent from...somewhere? |

6' 3.5" here with a 36"ish inseam.
I've put the seat down and back as far as it will go. The steering wheel is up as far as it will go. My car's an AT. Seat back is 1-2 clicks back from vertical. When I do my daily driving I'm not having any contact issues with the steering wheel, dash, or ceiling. I'd estimate that I have about 1-2" of clearance between the top of my head and the head liner. On my track day I had some serious issues with the helmet thrown into the mix. I had to click my seat back another click or two and move it up some on the rails. Also pulled the steering wheel out and down some. Even with that I was still pretty wedged into the car with both the top and rear of the helmet in constant contact with the roof and the headrest. I am also hoping to find a lower profile seat rail set up that will give me the additional 1-2' of clearance I estimate I need so that I won't have to deviate from my "normal" driving position. ^ That looks incredibly familiar.
I'm 6'2" but it's not incredibly horrible. When I go to the track I have to lift the steering wheel up because I can't get my hands to turn down low or they'll be banging my knees. And I usually stick to a maximum of 2 passengers, 3 total. It's hard to get someone behind me. Unless they want to sit Indian style lol.

yep. that's with the steering wheel all the way out and up, seat all the way back and down. it's tight alright. i don't even know that dropping the seat would make a big difference. I may have to finally throw in the towel and watch all you guys enjoy from afar.

Your only option is to get a Bride seat, should be much lower than the OEM one.
