Unhappy Rally Build Help

Hey y'all,

Kinda a different side of the capabilities of the FRS. Looking to get some Sparco Terra Rally wheels on my FRS for the rally build. One thing I've read is they won't fit because of the tie rod (15-inch wheels). So my question is how did the Hoonigans do it this weekend at the 100 Acre Woods Rally and how did Dirt Fish do it on their BRZ? They keep mentioning moving the steering in further but do not mention how they do it at all.

Dirt Fish Article:
https://dirtfish.com/cars/dirtfish-b...wn-subaru-brz/

What I'm quoting is the second paragraph of the Brakes, wheels, and suspension section.

Thank y'all for anything and everything!

A couple people are running 15 inch wheels in this thread:
https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105692

Most 15s don't fit because of the tie rod. I've heard the mounting point can be modified but I have not seen it done first hand. Wheel spacers can be used but you might end up with an offset that isn't ideal.

I use the Enkei RC-G5 wheel in 15x6.5 with 35mm offset which I had to import from Japan. It is specifically designed for this car and does not require any tie rod modification. If using wheel weights you do have to be careful though because clearance is so tight. So...use a tire shop that can work with you and not be big babies about the whole thing.

A 16 inch wheel is much easier, the 15s just open up the world of rally tires (which you should not drive on the street with). Most people are rallycrossing on snow tires anyway...and that's what I have on my 15s for now. But yeah, the 15s are pretty cool looking!

These work too:

Dirtfish re-drills the tie rod inboard by about an inch or so.

I can confirm this also clears "normal" subaru spec 5x100 rally wheels with this steering kit. It's still tight, but doable.

Looking at how dirt fish did it, I think large drill bits is the way to go

Those are freekin sweet! Where did you go about getting those? I love the look of those a lot. I agree, a 16-inch wouldn't be horrible but I'm not sure the tire selection would be super ideal.

That kit you sent, do you have any photos of it installed? I'm trying to figure out how that exactly works, i do agree though dirt-fish's way of doing it seems to be pretty standard. And when you say these will fit, will any of their 15 inch wheels work?

I get them directly from Enkei Japan. It takes a little patience working through email but they are helpful.

Here is their install video, hilarious too:

I can confirm that standard Subaru 5x100 15” wheels clear the relocated tie rod using the GKTech kit. I’ve made some suggestions to them to increase the clearance further on future iterations they make.

I’ve got a couple pallets of 5x100 Subaru speedlines that I’m happy I can put on in a pinch if I need to now.

Dude sweet! Thank you so much! I'd love to order the enkeis, but I think we are trying to stick with just one wheel for the entire team and we have Sparco's for the WRX's, I'm going to have the check out that kit!

Just know that the clearance is still verryyyyyyyyyy tight with the subaru 15" wheels, but for rally on a RWD car it should be okay.

If they do redesign the bracket to bring some meat more inboard it should gain another 4-5mm of clearance.

I gotchu, I think that's the route we are going to go for now, and if it doesn't work then I'll just drill out another hole for the tierod +/- an inch inward, I'll try and post some more photos for everyone since there are quite a few people asking about 15's
