Inexpensive DIY Rear window shade & new third brake light location
Some will appreciate this mod, some will not. I understand that it is not for everyone. But, I like building things; so here is what I came up with.
Take one of these. An Acura MDX moon roof shade 1100mm wide. Set it on the car. Tape off the half inch lip on each corner at the angle of the rear window. Now grind that 5-6 inch section off. I used a belt sander, it took about 10 minutes. https://www.ebay.com/itm/43-TINT-SUN...lUv-j8&vxp=mtr Unmodified via Imgflip Meme Generator After grinding the corners the shade fit to the top in the middle and to the newly ground edge on the corner. via Imgflip Meme Generator via Imgflip Meme Generator Crooked image, sorry. via Imgflip Meme Generator I used a LED light bar I had laying around. I have one ordered now that is twice as wide off ebay. It was only $11.99 shipped. via Imgflip Meme Generator via Imgflip Meme Generator via Imgflip Meme Generator 3m Double stick tape holds it to the window and holds the light to the shade. The rear window has a small rubber trim piece around it. I ran the wire up the side of the window behind the rubber molding, by using credit cards to carefully slip the wire in. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Good luck!

I get what you're trying to do but when I see stuff like this my reaction is, "what would you think if a car actually came from the factory like that?" Looks like you have some other homemade stick-on stuff on your car too but I don't think this is helping anything... Just my opinion.

Thanks for the comments. I understand what you are saying. I do have other stuff that I have made on my car that you may like... And some you probably do not.

I’ve never seen a DIY window shade. Looks cool. I love your work. Btw, do any of you here know where to buy rear window shades? I have a newborn baby, so the shades are necessary. TIA
