Toyota 86 OEM+ build - Moonslate
So a couple of weeks ago, I drove past a dealer with a new Solar Orange 86 and Moonslate 86.
I went back the next day for a better look but the Moonslate was already gone. I couldn't get over how much I loved the color in person so a week later I went to my dealer and put down an order for one for myself and it finally arrived. I asked the dealer not to detail or clean the car before delivery so I could avoid any swirl marks or damage to it. I couldn't help myself giving it a quick rinse on the way home Mods so far: __________________________________________ Toyota OEM Parts - https://toyota.jp/ - Bootliner - Mudguards - Door bolt caps - Hinge covers - Window Visors __________________________________________ TRD - http://www.trdparts.jp/ - TRD Push Start Switch - TRD Fuel Cap Cover - TRD Key Case - TRD Door Handle Protectors - TRD Fender Fins (D4S) __________________________________________ Aftermarket - TOM's Carbon Shift Knob - Karoism Sisal floor mats - HKS drop in air filter - Valenti Euro relay - Yellow foglights - Scosche Magic Mount Pro - Perrin trunk handle - Console plaque __________________________________________ Current pics: Last edited by monkeybike; 12-29-2018 at 10:38 PM. |

Day One:
I'm very much an OEM+ guy. The first obvious thing to get was the leather TRD key holder and start from there. I also needed a phone mount of some sort so I went with the Scosche Magicmount Pro Vent in Carbon. I'm pretty happy with it so far although it is too heavy for the side vents. An interesting fact is that it looks like Australia just got the Japanese 86 "GT Limited Black Package" cars rather than a separate specification.

I had ordered my first mod before the car even arrived.
As I'm in Australia, it's usually cheaper and faster to order parts directly from Japan. I've loved KAROism mats for years - http://www.karo1980.jp/ They used to be in almost every modified car that came out of Japan in the '90s and they are one of THE classic JDM mods. They are one of the few non-OEM+ mods that I must have and the price was absolutely insane. They are made of woven Shizaru hemp and bound in leather edging. The quality is amazing and they completely change the look and feel of the interior. Last edited by monkeybike; 03-10-2018 at 09:29 PM. |

Ooo I do like those! How much were they, if you don't mind. I think AUD and CAD are virtually identical at the moment.

Very nice. The best color available for the 86 in my opinion. Much better than Lava.

OEM+ builds are the best. Beware, wheels will make or break the build.

I was on the Toyota website looking at the 86 builder but didn't see the option.. I thought maybe it was the "Thunder" color, but it didn't seem to match..

If we had been offered this in the US (an 86 with what's basically the performance package) I would've gotten this instead of my BRZ tS. |
