Am I crazy for seeing the 670hp number and thinking "I really don't want that much power"? The Z06 is a fantastic budget Ferrari beater, but I don't even really want a Ferrari. I don't even want a Cayman GT4 or 911 GT3 tbh, they seem like too much car for the street. Hats off to GM for making such a crazy machine at a great price, but it kind of has the Tesla Plaid problem, where you're over the speed limit in under 1 second.
I just really want something like the Lotus Elise. My V8V has about 400hp with very poor low end torque in a portly chassis and I find it good enough in the speed department, I would just like to have a smaller and more carefree car. A 200hp Miata would be fast enough for me (I don't fit in Miatas ). Last edited by serialk11r; 10-30-2021 at 12:18 AM. |

That engine and sound. The looks are fantastic. I would take one in a heart beat and drive it 100% stock. Only thing I might change is the rotors to steel for track duty.

It can’t. Even if it’s faster than all of them, it’ll still be a corvette with an interior that’s behind even the cheapest euro supercar interior. The refinement just isn’t there, it’s just not a priority for the corvette. |

It is MUCH more fun to ride a slow motorcycle fast than a fast motorcycle slow. I've always called this Schilling's Law (after the late Phil Schilling). I don't know if Schilling coined the term and I don't care. I though a lot of him. I have not driven all than many really fast cars, but I cannot imagine they are exempt from that law.

Many differences with Ferrari. Their interiors are bespoke for each model and come from a place known for luxury goods, high end leathers and designers. Style and class layered over brutal physical capability. Unfortunately Corvette doesn't have that image or class and refinement and will be produced in far greater numbers than most Ferraris, which are more for the Gucci shoe crowd, I think. My brother in law has a Portofino. But he also has a 62 Vette but it's a high end 62 restomod with an LS engine. IMHO if you're going to buy one of these order it with every carbon fibre bit and interior trim piece. It is a pretty awesome car fully spec’d and I'm sure that's what they want to sell. Then it's on an equal ground with some pretty expensive competition.
And don't remove the carbon ceramics! Has anyone ordered and taken delivery of a C8 base and without a markup?

I wouldn't expect a $100k car to equal a $280k and up 720 or f8 in every way. A great feeling to know that a mid engine car is available to the masses. |

Hell of a lot easier to spend under $800 on steel rotors than 4-5k on ceramics after you go off track or over heat them. You start getting into PCCB and your talking 12k for a set of 4 ceramics on a GT2RS! No clue what GM's offering run though. Quote:

Compared to buying Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche/etc. branded cast iron brakes, the cost is actually pretty comparable I remember a guy at Laguna Seca looking very upset at his Huracan saying "I just replaced the brakes for 5k and the rotors are gone already". Of course, if you find the 200 dollar rotors that are exactly the same thing then the numbers work out a little different. |

Nobody that tracks these cars uses the CCBs. Unless their net worth is 8+ digits, its a horrible use of money.

I wouldn't and I'd bet that, if they were honest, 95+% of motorcyclists wouldn't either. For a lot of folks, engine power is compensatory. The concept of "enough" has vanished from a lot of peoples' world views. More than we can ever use is still insufficient. That's unfortunate.
