OpenFlash Tablet w/ Turbo. Feedback?

The only car I know of that is using OFT with a turbo is SBD.

Anybody else here using OFT with their turbo setup? I would like to get feedback on how the OFT handles turbo, pros/cons, limitations, or what it does well with.

Thanks.

OFT can work just fine. Its bit more of a pain to tune with, but besides flex fuel support, Ecutek and OFT should be just fine. The only other issue is support for reading boost over 5-6PSI as I don't think it supports using larger sensors. This will change in the future. I would just get ecutek and be done with it.

OFT currently supports both 2.5 and 3.0bar aftermarket MAP sensors. We will be releasing out own turbo kit in January. It will come with a 3bar sensor and free maps for both pump gas and e85 (which will require upgraded fuel pump and injectors).

Also, video to be released next week showing some new safety features that have never been offered before to my knowledge.

Interesting. So this not just an upgrade to the sbd kit but a real custom kit done by you guys...

Thanks for the responses.

I'm looking for a tuning system that I will be able to grow with. My car will inevitably be turbocharged. I've always been on the fence with OFT and its turbo tuning capabilities as not much has been tested. It's great to learn here that there is a 3bar aftermarket sensor that is capable with OFT.

Can anybody speak from their experience with OFT and their turbo setup? How about tuners- self-tuners to pros? Your thoughts on OFT in regards to a turbo setup.

Thanks.

Does that mean smaller pulley support for the Vortech supercharger as well?

Local NorCal 86 cup participant and OFT owner who's casually shopping FI kits looking for the right combination of price, track day reliability, and plug and play installation. I'll be keeping an eye out this January to see what you come up with.

The OFT can certainly support it but I have not created any maps for the high boosted Vortech setup. In my opinion, if you are looking to run more than the standard 8-9psi set-up you may be better off going with a turbo which doesn't suffer from parastic belt drive loss.

I get your point but I'm only looking for a little more boost maybe the 3.33 or 3.25 pulley. Plus don't want to sell the vortech and have to buy a new set up.
Is tuning for the slightly higher boost pulley something you can do with the e tuning you offer.

That shouldn't be a problem at all.

Thanks.
There are currently around 40-50 people using the OFT with various forms of forced induction. Half of them are using it with the Phantom ESC. And the other half are probably divided equally between Vortech SC and SBD Turbo kit. All of which we provide free maps file to users.

Our OFT350 will be run 10psi out of the box with options for higher boost levels (and power output) on E85. The OFT and Turbo system will have a very high level of integration since the current round of OFT firmware/software updates were specifically designed for boosted applications in mind. We're pretty excited about what is coming. Coincidentally, back in 1999, the first product I ever developed was an engine control system and bolt-on turbo kit for a 2.5L flat-four (in a Subaru RS2.5). It's funny that 15 years later we are doing the same thing but, this time, we are benefitting from very significant advances in technology

Cheers,
Shiv

@Shiv@Openflash ... Brazilian customer here. Im in the process of importing a FullBlown Stg1 kit. They use Ecutek, but i was wondering if my tuner/installer could use the OFT, since i have one, and i like how easy its for the user. Please advice!

That's a question for your tuner. Skill-wise, if he knows how to tune the car with ECUTek, there's no reason he couldn't tune it with RomRaider and you flash it with OFT. It's more of a business decision, if he chooses to tune with something other than ECUTek. ECUTek allows him to lock the file so that only he can change/distribute it.
