Scenic Drive. San Felipe/Metcalf rd.

1035 E Capitol Expy, San Jose, CA 95121

There a rite aid, Starbucks, Shells Gas Station, Asian Market. We'll meet at that parking lot there.

April 26, 2014
Saturday.
Time: 8AM ---> 10min - 15min wait time for those that come late.
Mission: Driving on San Felipe rd then Metcalf rd.
Ending meet: TBD
Road Conditions: Smooth. Minor gravel.
Distance: 15.1 mile give or take. 32 minutes give or take.

I scouted for a place for us to stop at the end of the destination before we say our good byes. I stopped at the motorbike obstacle course. As you exit out there will be a slight incline where it would scratch the bumper. Light scratch...I said nope. Drove at the end of Metcalf and made a right. There a parking near the park, however as you enter the parking lot there many deep holes where driving on it would surely scratch your bumper. I drove slow on it and still scratch the bumper *hard scratch from the sound* Instead of going right I made a left to drive and see. There is a spot on the right side that has some decent amount of room to park near a Tattoo parlor. It's paved. That looked decent.

I went back on Metcalf to go back where I was coming from. I saw another road that goes right. I drove that road down. Zero parking however its parallel to the freeway and it leads to a Sheriff training facility and a shooting range. No parking lot except for workers that work there.

Perhaps we could park on the side of the road of Metcalf. then decide to leave from there. There is a 101N/S on Bernal Rd. Right on Metcalf.

Overall, fun drive. Sad they cutdown some branches right before metcalf, Y-road. It looked good with the branches covering the sky and it felt more secluded.

Disclaimer: I don't check the the forum if anyone is coming. If the parking lot is empty we're gone

I might be down for this.

Was mapping the route on google maps and I came up with this:

Is it correct? 16.6 Mi / 34 Mins

Nice, I will try to join you guys. Added this drive to the 86DRIVE events calendar. I might be in the MR2 though as I will be going to a big MR2/Celica meet in Pleasanton (Shadow Cliffs Regional Park) afterwards. Any of you are welcome to come along for that too! Details on that are on the calendar as well.

Along those lines yes. I was thinking of driving through the hillsides right turn on Nieman Blvd then a left turn on on Farnsworth Drive. @Zen86

Cool I might roll with you. Chill there for a bit then head out and make the 86Sac meet. Might as well make it a meet day.

I don't know the area very well but was concerned about scratching the bumper as you mentioned earlier. My car is low and am concerned that I'll be scratching my bumper on this drive. Did these issues happen when you were searching for a spot after the drive? Thanks!

I used to live around there, I'll see if I'm free. 8AM is pretty early!

I'm at stock height.

The issue happen when I was searching for a spot after the drive to find a place for all of us to park. Say our good byes and split up. The drive itself will be fine as far as I'm concern.

Only thing I can see is pulling to the right of the road of metcalf and say our good byes then split

Bump this. I'm gonna try and make it, but can't guarantee that I'll wake up that early.
