What was your configuration for the JDL? The cat on my oem front pipe is blown out and I'm getting some rasp with a 3" perrin catback + jdl 4-2-1 el header. Trying to decide if I should try and pick up another oem front pipe or upgrading to a 3" jdl cat+resonator front pipe...

I believe that my Q300 is not a typical one and the packing has worn out a bit, as it’s louder than most I have heard on YouTube. I had my wife pull away at half throttle and the rasp and volume was too much for an old man like me with the JDL FP. So I switched back to stock FP. Now I feel it’s almost perfect. But still some rasp on shifts, mine is an AT. I need to find another Q300 local and buy it or borrow to try and see what’s wrong with mine.

Bump because I’m about to pull the trigger but am still considering.

My catback and I believe headers are 2.5’
I’m considering getting either a ‘decent’ FP OP combo which would be the 2.5’ SME dual resonated front pipe with a matching 2.5’ overpipe:

Or I could spend more on the FP and get the 2.3’ dual resonated HKS front pipe and pair it with a crappy 2.3’ overpipe.

Should I go with the first option purely to match the 2.5 diameter with the rest of my exhaust or is the quality of the HKS worth the 0.2’ loss in diameter?

(the SME FP is priced about the same as HKS/ Invidia parts, just it’s a local brand in Aus so I can’t find a whole lot of reviews on it)

The HKS unit has a history of cracking at the welds. Unsure if it was every addressed.

Know whether that’s a similar case for the dual resonated invidia FP or whether the resonators on it are any good?

My full setup is catless. Gruppe-S UEL headers, stock overpipe, Invidia catless resonated front pipe, Invidia Q300.

The front pipe took my car from subtle to loud.

I do not, but I haven't seen any issues pop up either.

Damn, my catback is on the quieter side even with TOMEI uels, probably comparable to the Q300 from what i've read with it not being much louder than stock. I want louder but not obnoxious

Keep the front pipe stock with the cat and you'll be fine
